Hello from Denver! This is Braylin’s first time in “The Mile High City” and it is going great except for her jet lag. I’m not
sure if jet lag is what you would call it, but it is faster than saying she is in a different time zone and completely off of her normal schedule. During our long flight, my husband and I discussed whether we should keep her on her normal schedule (two hours ahead of Mountain Time) or just go with the flow. We decided that we should try our hardest to keep her on schedule for easier transitions from place to place. Once we landed in Denver, …

The only baby around and her mom...
In case you haven’t noticed, Jacksonville and the surrounding areas are filled with babies and young children. Oh and of course, there are pregnant ladies galore! This is an observation that I made when we first moved here four years ago and it hasn’t changed over time. I have obviously gotten accustomed to seeing these groups of little ones (whether they are in their mommy’s tummy or out), because I forgot that it isn’t normal in other parts of the country. We recently traveled to the Asheville, NC area. We spent a lot of our time in Waynesville, which is …

This was taken from the condo's balcony.
Charlie and I took a trip to Fort Lauderdale for a few days while my parents kept Michael with them in Pittsburgh. We are so fortunate to have my parents to enable us some quality time to ourselves. Maeve is still breastfeeding and can’t be away from me for too long. Regardless, she’s really easy and we thoroughly enjoyed our time away.
We stayed at a friend’s condominium right on the Atlantic Ocean. From the condo’s front door, we looked down on the Inter-coastal waterway and from the back porch we could throw a stone into the ocean. The weather was 80 degrees …

Flying with baby was easier than I expected.
We just took our first flight with baby from North Carolina to California. I have been worried about this flight since I booked it months ago. I didn’t want to be “that” woman with the crying baby. I felt like I would have no control of the situation if Owen was crying and I couldn’t get away from people.
Strangely the hardest part turned out to be getting through the security trying to hold the baby, take off my shoes, and move all my stuff into the X-ray machine. Up until last week I thought I would by traveling alone …

We hope Owen likes his first plane ride.
We are headed to California this week and it will mark Owen’s first plane ride and our first real vacation as a family. I’m mildly anxious about having a baby on the plane but it will be worth it to get to visit our friends and family. For the plane ride my husband is on “team entertain the baby” while I will be on “eam feed and hold the sleeping baby”. We hope that our son behaves but there are no guarantees.
I started a list a couple of weeks ago so I will hopefully not forget anything essential. As …
Being in a strange place to sleep usually inspires Isaac to wake up every couple hours, so in an attempt to tire him out, we took him to as many places as we could while in Maryland for our vacation.
First on the list was The Crystal Grottoes, a neat but somewhat spooky underground cave. We traveled down 80 feet below the surface and saw some awesome stalagmites and stalactites. There were some that looked like teeth, mermaids, Africa, and even one that resembled a piece of bacon! Isaac was chirping happily throughout this excursion, but he had a hard time with the “don’t touch” rule.
I think I am claustrophobic
