Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Toddler Frustration And Hitting

Sayle has always been very vocal in expressing his dislike regarding certain decisions that are made for him like; coming inside, taking a bath, getting out of the bath, not letting him eat dirt, and going to bed.  Basically we are pretty aware of where he stands and what he thinks of us blocking his fun or toddler-good-time.I’ve blogged about temper tantrums before, remember, I love them.  I’m totally okay with the screaming and crying. BUT, as Sayle approaches the terrible twos, he’s adding some flare to these temper tantrums in the form of hitting-which I’m absolutely not okay with.

Temper Tantrums

There have been quite a few posts recently about temper tantrums; we wanted to provide some information about what causes these “rants”, tips on how to prevent them and how parents should react to them. We welcome your feedback to this information!

What are temper tantrums?

Temper tantrums are a way a young child lets out strong emotions before he/she is able to express them in socially acceptable ways. Although a child may seem totally out of control, these fits of rage, stomping, screaming, and throwing themselves to the floor are a normal part of childhood development. Temper tantrums often occur only with a parent. They are a way a child communicates …

Temper Tantrum Worthy-Video Post

The situations that warrant Sayle’s temper tantrums and the intensity of the tantrums depend on several variables; how bad he wanted to play with whatever object was removed from his hands/grasp, how fun the activity was that he was removed from, and the extent that he disagrees with a decision made for him.  He has a tantrum if he isn’t ready to go to sleep as we start walking to his room at night.  His tantrums range from mini to full blown if I don’t let him play in the water dish (I’m sure you guys caught the small tantrum in the video).  But nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will throw him into a tantrum faster than bringing him in the house if he has …

I Love Temper Tantrums

I love temper tantrums, they just give me the warm fuzzies.  There is nothing more that I love than Sayle announcing to everyone within a five mile radius that I am the meanest mother in the world and I have ruined his little life by refusing to allow him to do something.  I am the meanest mom on the planet, I know this.

I also love the looks that I get from other people who witness the tantrum.  Some shoot me the sympathy look, which is a warm smile of knowing and understanding what it feels like to be in my shoes.  I smile back to these people; for they too have experienced how difficult it is to chase a toddler …
