This last Saturday, I took all the kids on a nature walk. There’s a path on base that leads to a small forest. Isaak loves going on walks and he LOVES nature. The time was nigh and the bugs just so happened to be VERY hungry that evening. Unfortunately, we became their dinner.
The morning after the walk, Isaak woke up with a large bump protruding from his head. It was as if he was growing a large flesh colored horn. He didn’t act sick and the horn showed no signs of redness or oozing, so I assumed …

A couple of days ago we were invited over to a friend’s house for her daughter’s birthday party. It was a painting party so the mom had all these canvases and small wooden toys available for the kids to choose from to paint.
My three big kids were stoked because I’m kind of a psycho OCD mom so I rarely pull out paints for five children to go crazy with. It usually causes lots of armpit sweating, and anxiety for me so I try to avoid it.
Being that I have this crazy control issue, Isaak has never actually used REAL paint before. I know, I know, I’m a horrible mom …
After being fussy all morning at daycare but not feverish (YET!), Isaac was in a foul mood that afternoon and I could not figure out what the problem was. I assumed it was teething…
Then I got a call from Marissa’s school that she had thrown up and was feeling very bad still. After letting my boss know, I packed up Isaac early and drove to my stepdaughter’s school.
There is nothing sadder than a sick kid! They just look to pitiful and you know they are hurting. The good thing about this particular kid is that she is old enough to tell me what is wrong, as opposed to the baby.
“I …

Nora wasn’t acting like herself this week. She wasn’t sleeping well, was fussier than usual, wanted to be held more than usual and was eating less. I could tell by touching her forehead that she had a slight temperature but attributed that to the fact that her top two teeth were coming in. The other strange symptom she had was that her nose was alternating between oozing clear mucus and green mucus. It never stayed green for too long so I thought maybe it was allergies.
After three days of these symptoms I decided to make a doctor’s appointment. I …
Now that Sayle is on the healthy side of the baby stomach virus, I feel like I can speak intelligently about it in hopes I can help some other moms out there. I learned things the hard way last week, so please learn from my mistakes.

baby stomach virus questions answered
* Sayle continued to have diarrhea for a week, which concerned us as he could have become very dehydrated. The diarrhea occurred approximately one hour after he had a bottle. I contacted the pediatrician’s office and they told me to discontinue formula and to give Sayle Pedialyte or Gatorade. When your baby has a stomach …
Sayle had a pediatrician appointment Monday morning for his second round of the H1N1 shot and flu shot. We would have had the second round earlier, but we were busy battling ear infections and ridiculous fevers left and right so he could not have the shots.
When we got there, the waiting room was packed so I had to take the only seat available, next to a woman who did not look like she felt fantastic. Thankfully we only had to wait about ten minutes before the nurse brought us back. Sayle was not happy about getting the shots, but I was able to quickly divert his attention with Glow Worm (a …
