Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

The Dreaded Eye Drops

In addition to the awful cold, this winter has been remarkable for how often we’ve gotten sick.  It seems we can barely go a month without someone catching something or another.  All of my friends have had the same problem too.  One friend threatened to put their house on lockdown until the spring because she was so tired of it.

So last week, Emily, Nathan, and I all had a bit of a cold.  It was nothing remarkable, just an ordinary cold.  Emily, though, had an additional affliction – some good green gunk in her eyes.  It was fairly nasty, but it subsided within a few days and didn’t seem to …

“It’s never what they ate.”

Before the cold set in.

Maeve is recovering from her first sickness.  She just had a bad cold, but it completely zapped her energy and caused her a lot of discomfort from the congestion in her nose and chest.  She sounded like an old man when she coughed while she struggled to rid herself of the mucus in her chest.

Nevertheless, her condition sparked a conversation with Charlie’s brother-in-law when we stopped at his house to break up our trip home on our way home from Pennsylvania.  Phil and Charlie’s sister, Kathleen, are expecting their fifth child.  They’ve seen their children come down with many colds in the past few …

Isaac And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

If you have not read this kids book, I definitely recommended it for all ages; even adults will giggle and of course it has a good message at the end.  The book is officially called “Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” not Isaac, but I usually can rely on my creative license…

And let me tell you, the poor kid did indeed have a “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” recently, or several days, actually.

It all started with a bite.  A decent sized set of teeth marks on Isaac’s innocent baby arm.  Once that happened my mother’s intuition should have known that it was downhill from …

First Party and First Cold

There is nothing sadder than a sick baby.

On Labor Day Owen meet most of his relatives and cousins.  We had a gathering at my mom’s house to introduce him to the family since we live in North Carolina and all of my family is in California.  It was a great day of fun, talking, and passing around Owen.  He laughed at his cousin who was making funny faces, sat for a picture with all the kids, and came down with his first cold a few days later.

The first sign something was wrong was when he had a runny nose.  I had never seen him have a …

The Case of the Mysterious Sickness

It all started last Sunday when my Gus was super sad at church all afternoon.  He would cry and whine and pull his little legs up to his belly. I knew something wasn’t right because he’s usually a pretty happy and laid back little guy.  His poop was more runny than usual and his toots smelled of death.  I assumed he had just eaten something that he wasn’t used to so I didn’t think much of it.

On Tuesday he started running a fever that lead over into Wednesday.  I started to worry a little at that point since he’s had several ear infections in the past that MAYBE this …

Mysterious Bug Bite

left: 1st day of redness right: 2nd day of redness

This last Saturday, I took all the kids on a nature walk.  There’s a path on base that leads to a small forest.  Isaak loves going on walks and he LOVES nature.  The time was nigh and the bugs just so happened to be VERY hungry that evening.  Unfortunately, we became their dinner.

The morning after the walk, Isaak woke up with a large bump protruding from his head.  It was as if he was growing a large flesh colored horn.  He didn’t act sick and the horn showed no signs of redness or oozing, so I assumed …
