Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

They Can Sense Fear. Kids That Is.

The tumultuous conditions resembled my mood!

In order to escape the wrath of Irene, the girls and I drove three hours to Raleigh, our typical hurricane safe haven. Kevin would be working the entire time and I was not interested in toughing out the storm by myself with the girls. After having to evacuate last year, I felt like a pro when it came to packing up our valuables and preparing for the worst.

Secretly I was furious at the news channels for all the hype that had created, but it would be ignorant for me to think that nothing was going to happen.

Weekend in Raleigh, part 2

On our recent weekend trip, we took a visit to Marbles, the children’s museum in Raleigh.  I remember when Marbles first opened in 2001, though it was called Exploris at the time.  I was a little too old for children’s museums then so I never went and eventually forgot about it.  My mom had reminded me of its existence recently, and after having read Erin’s positive review, we paid a visit two weekends ago.

Marbles is awesome!  Nathan and Emily had a blast running around the Around Town section which had kid-sized ambulances, post offices, grocery stores, farms, fire trucks, cars, boats, dress-ups, stage, …

Our Mini Trip To Raleigh

Don't you go shopping when there's a hurricane?

Last week when Hurricane Earl hit North Carolina, Coast Guard dependents that were in the area received orders to evacuate. Even though I was worried about possible flooding or the loss of power in our neighborhood, I was going to Raleigh for a day and that wasn’t such a bad thing. It was annoying having to pack up the kids and the dog at the very last minute but at least I knew we were going to be at a hotel that night and not alone in our house, in the middle of the night, with no electricity.
