Cassy Fiano

Hi everyone! My name is Cassy Fiano. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida. My husband and I met when we were twelve, at a birthday party where he fell on the pool deck and broke one of his front teeth. I worked in several different fields until I got married. My husband and I knew that we wanted to have a family and that when we did, I would be a stay-at-home mommy. Last July, we found out I was pregnant, and on the day of my first doctor’s appointment, he deployed to Afghanistan. Unfortunately, during my pregnancy, I ended up with preeclampsia. Luckily, my husband returned the morning of my scheduled induction, so the day he came home from Afghanistan was the day we went to the hospital. 16 hours and a c-section later, we had our beautiful little boy, Benjamin. Being a parent has changed my life. I’ve learned to be more patient; that it’s possible to operate on two hours of sleep, and I’ve also learned that I never really knew what stress was until I experienced a baby crying inconsolably for four hours straight. I’ve learned that looking at my son sleeping in my arms can move me to tears, that I never really loved anyone the way I love my him, and that all of the hard times can be completely wiped away with one little smile. The last four months have been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to share the rest of it with you!

B the Big Cousin

Last week we were blessed with not one, but two new additions to our family! Ryan’s sister gave birth to twins late Monday afternoon.

Maybe she will share her love for the beach with her cousins!

Braylin doesn’t understand that she has new cousins or that she is no longer the baby in the family, but she was very excited when I showed her the pictures. She tried to hug and kiss my computer screen to love on the babies.

Baby A, Baby O and the rest of their family live in Virginia so it might be a few months before we are able to go see them. For …

The Big Resolution

For 2012, I have two smaller resolutions and one larger resolution.  My smaller resolutions are to be more healthy and to manage my time better.  These are all well and good, but they aren’t going to happen without my last, biggest resolution – to get more sleep.

There was a time, back in college, when four hours of sleep a night was sufficient.  Sure, I took a good nap every afternoon, but I was completely functional going to bed after two every night and still getting up for classes the next morning.  I once went four days on about six hours of sleep.

And then, I came down with mononucleosis …

Goodbyes Never Get Easier

Deep breath. No tears. This week, Ryan had to go back to North Carolina where he will be for a couple of weeks before he goes to a school in South Carolina for three months. Braylin and I are not able to move to South Carolina until he completes his training so we are staying in Florida while he is away.

I wonder how much she will grow in 3 months...

We have said goodbye so many times during our marriage and I thought at some point it would get easier. Last time he deployed, Braylin was almost three months old and was clueless that he was leaving. …

Happy New Year!

With a new year, come New Year’s Resolutions!  It can be a great time to look over the past year, evaluate what went well and what didn’t, and look to make improvements for the upcoming year.

This past year was an amazingly busy one around the Reese household, what with buying our first home, moving, visiting family, getting settled in our home, church responsibilities, and those three little monkeys running around.  This past year just makes me tired thinking about it.  But, we also accomplished a lot, and I’m looking forward to another productive year.

Which leads perfectly into my first resolution for 2012 – better time management.  While a lot did …

New Years Eve Party (Kiddy Style)

I don’t think that I have ever celebrated New Years Eve exactly the same two years in a row. During my college years, I’m sure that I was at a big party for the celebration (that time frame is a blur so I can’t be certain).

No beautiful fireworks, but we had a great time!

Then, I got married and calmed way down. Our party nights turned into game nights, except the year we were in Vegas which was a once in a lifetime experience (meaning I don’t think we will ever do that again).

A few years later, we had Braylin and calmed down a little more. This year, …

My Second Resolution

This week, I’m focusing on my New Year’s Resolutions.  Last time, I wrote about my first resolution – to better manage my time.  I’m starting to work on that one and can already report having finished two books.  My next New Year’s Resolution involves the whole family this time.  We need to be healthier.

I’ve written before about my struggles to lose the baby weight.  I’ve never lost the weight from the previous baby before getting pregnant with the next one, and the additive nature of this is not working out well.  I’m a good thirty pounds heavier than I was when I met Chad.  Yikes!  During the holidays, …
