Cassy Fiano

Hi everyone! My name is Cassy Fiano. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida. My husband and I met when we were twelve, at a birthday party where he fell on the pool deck and broke one of his front teeth. I worked in several different fields until I got married. My husband and I knew that we wanted to have a family and that when we did, I would be a stay-at-home mommy. Last July, we found out I was pregnant, and on the day of my first doctor’s appointment, he deployed to Afghanistan. Unfortunately, during my pregnancy, I ended up with preeclampsia. Luckily, my husband returned the morning of my scheduled induction, so the day he came home from Afghanistan was the day we went to the hospital. 16 hours and a c-section later, we had our beautiful little boy, Benjamin. Being a parent has changed my life. I’ve learned to be more patient; that it’s possible to operate on two hours of sleep, and I’ve also learned that I never really knew what stress was until I experienced a baby crying inconsolably for four hours straight. I’ve learned that looking at my son sleeping in my arms can move me to tears, that I never really loved anyone the way I love my him, and that all of the hard times can be completely wiped away with one little smile. The last four months have been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to share the rest of it with you!

Keep Your Hands Off My Son (Part 2)

If you missed the first part, you can read it here.

Attack mode, beware!

My breaking point was the other night, while in MD for Thanksgiving weekend, when everyone was downstairs, either watching the game or playing with Isaac and his mountain of toys. Greg was really into the game, and had already gotten snippy with the noise coming from the play area. Suddenly Isaac ran over to him to try and hug him, my brother impatiently pushed my son away, causing him to fall, and I. SAW. RED!  Of course out came Mama Bear, claws and all. There was some yelling and inappropriate language involved from …

Goodbye CuddleBugs

Well, Cuddlebug readers and bloggers, it is time for me to say goodbye. I’ve had a lot of fun sharing my parenting experiences with all of you for the past two years. It’s hard to believe it has been two years –time really is flying by! I guess time flies when you’re having fun! I’ve enjoyed every minute of sharing my stories, hearing your feedback and learning from your stories and experiences.

Now that I am settled in Okinawa, Japan I will be passing the torch to a local blogger who can keep you more up to date with things going on in the Jacksonville, NC area.

I just have one request …

An Open Letter to Mothers Who Smoke

Quitting cigarettes is a small price to pay for her health

The other day I was driving Serophina to school and as I waited at a stoplight, I looked over at the car next to me and saw another mom-driver with her young kids in the car, smoking a cigarette.

Forgive me for being a little harsh here, but if you are a mom that smokes around your children, you might as well just give them their own cigarette, because it’s less harmful than the second hand smoke that they are inhaling from your cigarette. You have to be living under a rock to not know that second …

Keep Your Hands Off My Son (Part 1)

I have a valid issue here that has been brewing for some time now, and I’d like to share it and see what you guys have to say.  Kind of a personal issue, but maybe airing it out on a blog might help!  I hope you guys don’t mind the usual deviation from my lighter more fun-loving subjects (:

My youngest brother, of the gross bathroom habit fame, has always been a bit standoffish with Isaac, ever since he as born. No idea why, but that is just how it has always been, and I was hoping that once Greg got used to his nephew he would warm up to him more. I assumed the problem was the constant crying …

Trying to Climb Out of the Crib

Look at this peaceful sanctuary. Who would want to leave?

My Saioa is a sweet, sweet girl. She is just so good-natured, gentle and loving….. Kevin and I really lucked out with our girls. Serophina was the same way, we never had to worry about them getting into things or destroying things just cause they could reach it. For example, we’ve put up our Christmas tree with all of our delicate, breakable ornaments and Saioa understands not to touch them. She will admire the ornaments and the lights, but doesn’t try to grab or tug at them. Maybe that’s just how girls are…. I don’t know.

So, imagine …

Every Car Needs A Garage

Yes, according to my car-crazy toddler, every single vehicle he owns must have it’s own garage, or at the very least a shared spot in a larger parking garage. What can I say, the kid is very organized and somewhat anal about it; I wonder where he got that, ahem.

The final solution, for now

This is a problem for several different reasons, the first being holy cow there are entirely too many toy vehicles in this house to find homes for all of them.  Have you seen the basement?  Enough said. If this new mission were limited to only cars, then maybe it wouldn’t be so …
