Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

A Great Age At Every Age

When referring to babies I’ve often heard myself and others say “This is such a great age.” The truth is that it’s a great age at any age in my opinion!

When we first brought Saioa home from the hospital, it was such a wonderful time. She was so tiny and perfect and the most beautiful addition to our little family. To compliment her arrival even more, the weather was as gorgeous as could be. It was spring and I would sit out on the front porch every morning while Saioa slept in my arms. The newborn baby stage is magical in its own right.

Then at around three or four months, …

Maeve’s baptism.

Of course I forgot my camera, so I don't have any pictures of Maeve's baptism on hand yet.

We waited until Charlie returned home to baptize Maeve.  Since he’s been home, we had a hard time deciding where we were going to baptize her.  Charlie’s close family friend, Father Spychala, married us and has been a part of the Boyle family for years. Father Spychala lives in Virginia though, so we didn’t know if it was convenient to ask him to baptize Maeve.

Our other options were to baptize her here, on Camp Lejeune, where we attend the Catholic church.  I’ve developed a relationship with the priest and felt …

A train birthday party

Owen's first train themed birthday party

We went to a friend’s birthday party today.  Their son just turned three years old and I caught a glimpse into Owen’s future birthday parties.  The birthday was train themed with Thomas the Tank Engine being the dominant figure throughout the room.  I am amazed how much little boys gravitate to Thomas, however I remember being that age and being mildly obsessed with Snoopy and Charlie Brown.  When we entered the room, we were immediately greeted with the shrieks of little boys and girls and the noise of trains barreling around the toy tracks; a few of the little kids were gleefully blowing train …

How to Spare Your Baby From Diaper Rash

Diaper rash may be more common than you think. More than half of babies 4 to 15 months old get diaper rash at least once in a two-month span, say experts at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

“Most cases are not serious, but diaper rash requires attention by the parents or caregivers, and it can become a serious problem if not treated at home or by a physician,” says Winston Price, M.D., of the AAP’s Practice and Ambulatory Medicine committee.

The top cause of diaper rash is moisture, made worse by chafing or rubbing. Moisture often stems from long contact with urine or feces. “It’s important to check the baby’s diaper often and change …

Yeah, She’s Sleeping Through the Night. Oh Wait, No. Just Kidding.

Sweet dreams lovey love!

Not too long after I announced to the world that my sweet baby was sleeping through the night, she started not sleeping through the night. It was so nice of her to wait till after I boasted to my group of friends that “Yes, my baby sleeps through the night. Oh, yours doesn’t? Awww, poor you. I know, I’m so lucky. Yes, she’s such a good baby.”

She must’ve heard those conversations and was like “Oh no Mother, remember when you made me cry in my bassinet for a whole half a minute? Well take this!”

Recently she started waking up in the …

Saioa’s a Mover and a Shaker!

Look out world!

Saioa is now three months old and I can’t describe the joy I feel to see her reach new milestones. Nowadays she wants to become more and more mobile and she’s constantly grabbing at anything within arm’s reach. For example, when we set her down on her play mat, five minutes later she’ll be facing the opposite direction. Sometimes she’ll end up way over on the other side. She scoots herself all over the place now and you can tell she gets frustrated when she can’t do more.

When she’s in her bouncy seat she arches her back trying so hard to rollover and escape. It’s …
