Cassy Fiano

Hi everyone! My name is Cassy Fiano. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida. My husband and I met when we were twelve, at a birthday party where he fell on the pool deck and broke one of his front teeth. I worked in several different fields until I got married. My husband and I knew that we wanted to have a family and that when we did, I would be a stay-at-home mommy. Last July, we found out I was pregnant, and on the day of my first doctor’s appointment, he deployed to Afghanistan. Unfortunately, during my pregnancy, I ended up with preeclampsia. Luckily, my husband returned the morning of my scheduled induction, so the day he came home from Afghanistan was the day we went to the hospital. 16 hours and a c-section later, we had our beautiful little boy, Benjamin. Being a parent has changed my life. I’ve learned to be more patient; that it’s possible to operate on two hours of sleep, and I’ve also learned that I never really knew what stress was until I experienced a baby crying inconsolably for four hours straight. I’ve learned that looking at my son sleeping in my arms can move me to tears, that I never really loved anyone the way I love my him, and that all of the hard times can be completely wiped away with one little smile. The last four months have been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to share the rest of it with you!

Balancing Act

Aha, did my title trick you into thinking this was a post about Isaac learning to balance or walk or at least crawl?

Fooled you…this is not the case at all.  This post, in fact, is about me attempting, with a HUGE emphasis on the word attempting, to find some sort of balance between work and home.

I NEED HELP!  Please?

Lord give me strength!

Lord give me strength!

I am so frustrated that this is difficult for me, as I really didn’t think going back to work would be this big of a deal.  I am used to getting over any obstacle that I set my mind to, so this feeling of …

Grocery Store Terrors

izey ice cream in cart[2]

Am I the only one who DREADS going to the grocery store if I have to take my kids?  I remember being a kid and going with my mom to the grocery store and she always made the event so fun for everyone.  I don’t really remember her being stressed, or dripping with sweat, or freaking out over what was put where in the cart.  Why am I like this?!

I usually try to get to the grocery store on Saturday mornings when Austin is home and can stay with all the kids.  I enjoy the peace and quiet when I shop alone.  I …

Divorce

divorce

This post is more of a call for help and ideas.  Unofficially, we are dealing with an upcoming divorce in our family between my parents.  It’s not like we haven’t dealt with this before, Austin’s parents divorced each other during the first year of our marriage.  The only difference is we didn’t have children that were old enough to understand what was going on.

Now, my three older children are big enough to know that their grandparents are married.  They know that they live together and that they love each other.  Sadly, they will soon divorce and I’m afraid this will leave my children wondering what happened, how it happened, why it …

Wedding Ring Woes

male wedding ring[1]

When hubby and I got married, 11 years ago, we picked out matching rings for each other and planned to wear them every single day for the rest of our lives, “to represent the eternal life and love” we will have with each other, or so they said. Not a year later, we were vacationing in Spain when our villa was broken into and our wedding rings were both stolen by gypsies!! Sounds scandalous, huh? I know, it was. I love telling people that story, though at the time of the incident, I was a basket case because I had my most prized possession taken from me – …

Ewwww, Pets

cat on floor

When it comes to babies, I love them.  I could kiss on them all day, roll on the floor with them, and play games with them, the whole works!  But when it comes to furry animals, I can pass.  Growing up we had a cat and several dogs and they didn’t seem to bother me too much, but now, having my own family, I cannot stand having pets in our home.  At the top of my hate list are cats.  Ugh.  Cats drive me nuts.  They’re so sneaky and sly and their hair is everywhere.  Gag.

Because we don’t own any pets, this makes them all the more …

A Trip to Texas!

cousins lauren and miah

Since last week was Spring Break for the kids, we decided to pack everyone up and head home for a week or two.  Given that our Durango only has enough seats for the exact number of people in our family, we knew we were going to have to pack super light in order to fit everyone and everything in.

One of my LEAST favorite parts of traveling with babies is that you feel like you have to pack up the entire house in order to keep your routine down while you’re away.  Lucky for us, we had a lot of family and friends pitch in their …
