Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Matching Christmas Jammies

2011

This will be Saioa’s second Christmas and I’ve realized that we’ve created a new tradition- matching Christmas pajamas for Serophina and Sai. We have a picture of the girls wearing matching pajamas in front of the tree from last year, and a few nights ago I was taking pictures of them in front of the tree and they both just happened to have on pink, flannel, princess pajamas. Poof! A new tradition was born!

Traditions are the best thing about Christmas. And we have a lot of them! Kevin makes the most indulgent meals on Christmas, he makes a herb-crusted Prime Rib and Lobster Bisque. We have …

Do You Keep A Baby Journal?

The exact journal I have for Serophina!

In this day and age there is an abundance of journals. They come in every color, shape and form that you could ever imagine. You can have them made to look really professional like a published book complete with photos and delicate print. Or you can choose many of the hundreds available where you can write your own thoughts in your own handwriting.

Last weekend we had a garage sale and I had to go through our giant armoire full of books so I could pick out the ones I wanted to sell. I came across the baby journal that I …

A Day in D.C.

Kevin and Serophina taking it all in

We live 7 hours from Washington D.C. and have never been there. When we recently got tickets to go to an event there, we were excited about the opportunity and thought it was a great excuse to see D.C.

So off we went, packing our car with snacks, sandwiches, dvd’s, toys and books. We like to travel with the kids and now that Serophina is old enough to remember these trips we always anticipate it being a special experience for her. We thought about how cool it would be for her to look back and think, I saw the White House and …

Wrinkles & Grins

While in MD we visited my great-grandma Brigitte (“Boomie” as I affectionately christened her as a child) who resides at a local nursing home.  She has a form of dementia and exhibits many of the same traits associated with Alzheimer’s, but our Boomie still has a lot of life left in her.  She has a sharp wit, likes to flirt with young men, and is cranky as can be, but in a cute way.  Her illness might make some people uncomfortable, but we are used to it, and love her just the same, even though it is hard when she doesn’t remember us at times.

I wasn’t sure how the visit …

An End to Chaotic Dinnertime

Can't I do this every night?

In my house, when the needle on the clock hit’s 5, that’s when my day starts to accelerate. So begins the steadfast ritual of making dinner, feeding dinner, cleaning up dinner, bathing of the babes, jammies, teeth brushing, book and finally, bed.  In between all that is a scheduled workout at 5:30pm,  3 days a week, power walking on Monday nights at 7pm, pilates class on Tuesday at 5:30pm and at the end of every evening when all is said and done, the dog still needs to be taken for a walk.

Why everything must take place in the evening, I don’t …

A Challenge to my Fellow Bloggers

My Mom and Dad in their first year of marriage

Last week I was strolling through a few of my favorite blogs and I came across one of them that had a FABULOUS idea!!  I loved it so much!!  She pointed out how much fun it is to look back on pictures of your parents when they were young parents themselves.  How often were your parents in the pictures, especially your mom?  I don’t know about anyone else, but my mom was rarely in ANY pictures of us growing up.  I remember her always saying that she didn’t want her pictures taken because she was too …
