It's on!
I’ve found the golden ticket. I’ve solved the mystery, discovered the truth. I know how to get your kids to do practically anything you want them to. Tell them you’re going to do it first! This can be communicated in several different versions so feel free to try them all until you find the one the works best for you.
For example, if you’re trying to get your son/daughter to eat their vegetables… just tell them you’re going to eat all yours before they do. Then just pretend your fork keeps missing your mouth and watch your childrens’ veggies disappear right before your eyes.
You know how kids …

Perhaps you were a crazy person before you were mom?
I love my group of mom friends. They’re the best support network I could ever ask for. We all enjoy each other’s company and for the most part our kids get along great so it’s nice to have excuses to get together. A lot of our conversations revolve around our children in one way or another. We also talk about things that are going on each other’s lives like trips, family visits, recipes, tv shows, movies, etc. Sometimes I wonder what we would talk about if we didn’t have kids. Then again would we even be friends …
The birthday party at the bouncy house was a total success! When it was all said and done I started thinking about the part of a kids party that always seems to be the most chaotic: gift opening time.
I’m not keen on the fact that the process of opening presents quickly becomes a contest of unwrapping everything as fast as you can without taking time to oooh and aaahhh over each one and telling the person who brought it how much you love it.
Not only that, but all the other kids get so excited that they’re usually surrounding the birthday boy/girl with a gift in hand shouting “open …

This is the way to go!
Recently I wrote about the dilemma I was having over what to do for Serophina’s fourth birthday party. I really wanted to avoid having everyone at our house mostly because of space. There’s just not enough room for adults and kids to move around comfortably, not to mention the kids would probably destroy everything in their path. Ideally, I wanted to have her party at a bouncy house but the closest one to us is 45 minutes away and costs an arm and a leg to have a 2-hour party.
One day last week I happened to mention my dilemma to …

Too bad the ones this is meant for can't read
Have you noticed that ever since you had kids you have no privacy? They always seem to be the most needy when you need to have just a few moments to yourself. I’ve found that no matter what I’m doing, there always seems to be either a baby, a kid or a dog present. They just barge right in, with no respect for Mom’s personal space. Everyone needs personal space, Moms especially. Yet, we’re the ones that seem to have it the least!
Before I had Saioa, the one guaranteed place of privacy for me was the shower. I …

Kids?Check! Dog?Check! Checklist? Check!
Hurricane season is upon us and with all kinds of crazy storms headed our way, including Earl, I realized that it’s time to take out my checklist and make sure I’m prepared if a hurricane actually hits our area. The thought of having to evacuate is a little scary. Even more frightening is thinking about what could possibly happen to our little town if a hurricane passed through, and how it might change our lives.
Going over my checklist, some things were pretty obvious like stocking up on plenty of water, non-perishable food items, batteries and medication. But I started thinking about all the things …
