Cassy Fiano

Hi everyone! My name is Cassy Fiano. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida. My husband and I met when we were twelve, at a birthday party where he fell on the pool deck and broke one of his front teeth. I worked in several different fields until I got married. My husband and I knew that we wanted to have a family and that when we did, I would be a stay-at-home mommy. Last July, we found out I was pregnant, and on the day of my first doctor’s appointment, he deployed to Afghanistan. Unfortunately, during my pregnancy, I ended up with preeclampsia. Luckily, my husband returned the morning of my scheduled induction, so the day he came home from Afghanistan was the day we went to the hospital. 16 hours and a c-section later, we had our beautiful little boy, Benjamin. Being a parent has changed my life. I’ve learned to be more patient; that it’s possible to operate on two hours of sleep, and I’ve also learned that I never really knew what stress was until I experienced a baby crying inconsolably for four hours straight. I’ve learned that looking at my son sleeping in my arms can move me to tears, that I never really loved anyone the way I love my him, and that all of the hard times can be completely wiped away with one little smile. The last four months have been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to share the rest of it with you!

Jeremiah’s Adoption Story – Part 1

Given the theme this month is focusing on adoption, I’ve decided to share with you all, the very long adoption story that led us to our sweet middle child, Jeremiah.  I’ve shortened some names for the sake of privacy but hope that you will gain something from our story.  It’s very special to our family, but I never hesitate to share with anyone who asks.  Feel free to ask any questions that may arise.  I love speaking about it!

All my life I knew I wanted to adopt. When I was in high school, a church teacher of mine adopted a baby boy from Russia.  Because I was in his …

Who Does Your Baby Look Like?

dwight and gus[1]

Most of my friends and family know that I’m a sucker for comparing anyone and everyone I know (or even don’t know for that matter) to people or things or even animals.  I’m addicted to it.  I love doing it and for some reason the comparisons always come to me so easily.

When Isaak was a baby I compared him to the PC Guy from the Mac commercials.  He looked identical to the guy because he was super roundy, bald and a littler nerdy!  It was a perfect, SPOT ON, comparison.

As he got older and his face began to change, I started comparing him to Nacho Libre.  He …

The Many Faces of Isaak

isaak drink

My Isaak is quite the sneaky rat meat.  He likes to find things that he isn’t supposed to have, and then sees if he can get away with having them.

He uses his dashing grin and his debonair smile to hypnotize me into thinking he’s not doing something naughty.  I would have to give him the gold for his facial expressions.  Sometimes I wonder if even HE knows how he makes certain faces.  I love that he can change his face in a matter of seconds to win his case.  I think he takes after his dad and may have a future in the legal field one day!  …

A Family of Fun!

securedownload[1]

This is our most recent family picture taken just a few weeks ago by my most talented sister, Amy at Daisy Photography. I wanted something fun and different that depicted WHO our family was. How do you like it?!

My family isn’t like any ordinary family.  I like to think of us as a big compilation of many unique personalities which combine to make one wickedly awesome team.  I encourage my kids to be themselves, to find out who they are and to own it!  I love personality, but one thing I can’t stand is when someone isn’t confident in who they are, so they adapt the …

Water Addiction

water bottle

Recently, my little Izey guy has been totally digging water.  It all started on our trip to Texas.  Being in the car for 20 hours straight made it pretty hard to keep cold milk on hand and being that Izey is allergic to ALL milk except Rice Dream, which most gas stations don’t carry, we weren’t able to keep him stocked with his favorite beverage.  Instead, we kept filling up his bottle with water and to our surprise; he actually prefers it over rice dream!

Isaak likes water SO much, that if I give him Rice Dream in his bottle or cup anymore, he refuses to drink it.  He ONLY …

Grocery Store Terrors

izey ice cream in cart[2]

Am I the only one who DREADS going to the grocery store if I have to take my kids?  I remember being a kid and going with my mom to the grocery store and she always made the event so fun for everyone.  I don’t really remember her being stressed, or dripping with sweat, or freaking out over what was put where in the cart.  Why am I like this?!

I usually try to get to the grocery store on Saturday mornings when Austin is home and can stay with all the kids.  I enjoy the peace and quiet when I shop alone.  I …
