Cassy Fiano

Hi everyone! My name is Cassy Fiano. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida. My husband and I met when we were twelve, at a birthday party where he fell on the pool deck and broke one of his front teeth. I worked in several different fields until I got married. My husband and I knew that we wanted to have a family and that when we did, I would be a stay-at-home mommy. Last July, we found out I was pregnant, and on the day of my first doctor’s appointment, he deployed to Afghanistan. Unfortunately, during my pregnancy, I ended up with preeclampsia. Luckily, my husband returned the morning of my scheduled induction, so the day he came home from Afghanistan was the day we went to the hospital. 16 hours and a c-section later, we had our beautiful little boy, Benjamin. Being a parent has changed my life. I’ve learned to be more patient; that it’s possible to operate on two hours of sleep, and I’ve also learned that I never really knew what stress was until I experienced a baby crying inconsolably for four hours straight. I’ve learned that looking at my son sleeping in my arms can move me to tears, that I never really loved anyone the way I love my him, and that all of the hard times can be completely wiped away with one little smile. The last four months have been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to share the rest of it with you!

A Tribute To Our Second Family

Isaac has gone into a deep depression.  Well, not really, not yet, but he might when he realizes his favorite people in the world are moving!  Our second family here in NC; our neighbors!

Yes, I’m sure most of us have had friends move away with this being a military area, but these folks are former Marines, so once they completed their tours of duty and decided to become civilians, I assumed that they were in the safe zone of no more deployments or moves.

Having fun with the neighbors

Nope, it figures just as we finally get amazing neighbors and Isaac falls in love, they have to leave ):

Let …

Blogging Friends

About three months ago, I planned to take a short trip with a good friend of mine to a blogging conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.  I’ve been blogging for quite some time on my personal blog and I’ve made a lot of good friends that I’ve never actually met in person.  We had all planned to join forces at the conference and have a fabulous time!

Of course, a traveling mother of five who is married to a Marine who is away has QUITE the time finding a way for her children to be taken care of for five days.  I had originally planned to have …

Celebrate Each Baby!

So I said it…I believe every baby coming into this world should be celebrated!  I don’t care if it is baby #1 or baby #6 – the new Mom/Baby should have some type of celebration!

I think the “proper etiquette” says a Mother should only have a baby shower for her first baby!!  It doesn’t  have to be a fancy baby shower…….a lunch out with friends or casual dinner will do!!  A baby is a gift and should be celebrated!!

When I was pregnant with my oldest……he was born early so my baby shower was postponed until after he was born.  It was a special day to me.  I was surrounded by friends and …

It’s Coffee Time!

coffee

When I first moved here to Jacksonville, NC I did not have any friends. I had my husband and that was about it. Husbands are great, but when it comes to needing girl time – they just don’t cut it.

One day a neighbor approached me and asked whether I wanted to attend a Coffee with her. She went on to explain that you didn’t have to drink Coffee in order to attend. A Coffee was just a weekly meeting for women in the neighborhood. I could bring my children if I wanted; lots of women brought their children.

Before I knew it I was going to Coffees every week and getting my fill of …
