Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Vs. Adam Lambert

A while back I wrote a post where I compared Isaac’s different hairstyles to Robert Pattinson and Justin Beiber. It seemed to be a funny a crowd-pleaser, so it’s time to do one for me (:

I celebrated the end of the fall semester of classes and my 32nd birthday by reading several good books I have been drooling over (not “The girl with the dragon tattoo though, I actually hated that and didn’t finish it), napping a lot, spending quality time with family members, and getting yet another mom haircut.  This one is even shorter, more pixie cut than the previous bob.

Hmmm, I asked two things of the …

Our Least Favorite Christmas Gift: Pink Eye!

Somehow Isaac and I must have ended up on the naughty list because the Friday before Christmas we got matching presents…red teary eyes leaking green goo.  Very seasonably appropriate color scheme, but not what I had in mind!

No pink in these pretty blue eyes, not yet...

No advance warning either! I picked my toddler up from preschool on Thursday night and noticed a small bit of mucus in the corner of one eye, but was not overly alarmed, as the poor kid has had a cold with assorted coughs, sneezes, and runny nose on and off for more than a month now.

However, as the evening progressed through …

Ahhh…Acupuncture!

No not for Isaac, haha, but can you just imagine that?  Hey kid, you know how much you love getting those shots at the doctor’s every couple months?  Well boy do I have a deal for you!  How about I stick multiple needles into various parts for your body, and…wait for it…then you sit still for a while and relax.  HA!

The acupuncture was for me, this stressed out Mommy — December is a crazy month, as I’m sure you are all aware of, and I was desperate to calm down.  After trying all my usual methods to relax, I decided to attempt something new and different.

Needles in ear = relaxation

Stalking Santa And His Firetruck Sleigh

We are in Maryland now visiting my family (what a shocker, I know, I am here all the time) and I really wanted to take Isaac to see Santa somewhere this year, as I have put that off for the past two due to any number of usual excuses — germs, location, waiting in line, crying kids (including possibly my own), crowds, and general laziness.

I was checking local listings for where the big man is red was going to be making his appearances before Christmas, and wasn’t really feeling any of them until (drum-roll) I saw one for Santa in his firetruck.  FIRETRUCK???  That would be so perfect, considering my toddler’s obsessive love of all things wheeled!

Sleeping At Grammy and Grandad’s

Since we got to Maryland, Isaac has decided that sleeping is for chumps. Getting to bed has not been a big issue once he moved into a toddler bed in September — usually my son goes down fine at night with the occasional nap time problem.

Guess who is not sleepy?

Now, in a new state with different people around, a new place and a new bed and bedroom (full of new toys!!!), Isaac is all out of whack and his sleep schedule (and mine!) are suffering!

Nap time has been a a huge time-consuming affair that usually ends with him in tears because he is so overtired and …

Teaching Toddlers About The Holidays

Around Thanksgiving I had a mini-panic attack when I realized how close Christmas was and wondering how I was going to teach my 2.5 year old about Jesus and his pal Santa without confusing the heck out him.  And what about the rest of the holidays celebrated in December, like Hanukkah and Kwanzaa?

Maybe I am being a tad too gung-ho about this considering Isaac is still so young, but I want to raise my son to be open and accepting of all regions and their associated traditions, not just what I believe personally, as well as the big man in the red suit.

Of course when we say our prayers together …
