All I want for Christmas is you!
We had a great Christmas this year. Owen seemed to understand how to open gifts pretty quick and it was fun to watch him playing in the paper. He got lots of toys and gifts that he has been playing with ever since. When I look back through the pictures there is one thing that I keep thinking: we are so lucky to have Owen for Christmas.
I put a few bows on his head because I thought it looked cute but when I look back through the pictures, it seems more like he is one of the gifts that was under …

Owen is happy to meet new people.
I am so happy to report that Owen is a friendly baby. He just met his grandma and aunt this week and he has been thrilled to interact with these new people in his life.
I am grateful that he likes new people because he doesn’t regularly hang out with other people besides me and my husband. We are from California and all of our family still lives there. I worried a little that when Owen was held by his grandma and aunt that he would start to cry and reach for me or my husband. I didn’t want them to …

We love the stroller!
We have had family in town for a few days so we have been out and about showing them around for much of the day. This requires Owen to nap while we are out, instead of in his crib. I’ve tried carrying him around while he sleeps but it is hard on me because he is heavy and I can’t hold the same position long enough for him to get a decent nap. So I’ve come up with a new plan which is to bring the stroller with me in case Owen needs to take a nap.
This may seem obvious to other mothers but …
Owen is close to being able to crawl. We are excited for him because he wants this so bad. Sometimes he acts like a baby that can already crawl; when he wants something he will just go for it. This can be scary at times when he just dives off of my lap to get to something or literally jumps off of the bed when he sees something on the floor. I’ve learned to hold onto him tightly at all times now.
The problem is that he doesn’t really crawl yet, but he tries very hard and ends up screaming at the object he wants to get to. The thing that makes him try to crawl more than anything else is …

The token picture on Santa's lap.
We ran into Santa at the PX a week ago and decided to get the token picture of him with Owen. It was nice that Owen was too young to really care that a strange man was holding him; he smiled away. We definitely want Owen to believe in Santa, it is just one of the aspects of childhood that my husband and I both loved. The other night my husband was talking about how he wanted to let Owen catch Santa one year in the house. He wants to get the whole outfit and give Owen a memory for life. …

Axel waiting patiently for his treat.
Since Owen was born, Axel has been waiting for the day when Owen would feed him. Axel knows that he shouldn’t even ask me or my husband for people food, it isn’t going to happen. But he knew from the day we brought Owen home that they would have a special relationship, one in which Owen would share his food.
Now that Owen is getting little finger foods, Axel has been following him around everywhere. The highchair is the best place for Axel to get a snack, and Owen intentionally throws his puffs off the tray and into Axel’s mouth.
The other day, Owen …
