Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

I Guess He Likes The Altitude

Sometimes I think about what an odd little baby I have. Case in point: Ben’s obsession with standing up. And I don’t mean him standing up, although he does love it when you let him “stand” while holding his hands. Oh no. That makes me life far too easy. No, he likes to make Mommy work; for whatever reason, when he gets fussy, he will not stop crying unless I am standing up. It is the strangest thing. He’ll have his bottle and then when he’s done, he’ll start crying. Or maybe he’ll be tired, or bored, or whatever the case may be. …

Ladies Who Lunch (And Bring Their Kids)

Mom, this would look better on your shirt.

Morehead City recently opened an Olive Garden and my friends and I were dying to try it out. Living here you have your choice of country diners that spell their “country” with a “K” or outdated chain restaurants that still reek of cigarette smoke (love you No-Smoking Law!) In other words it’s slim pickins when it comes to dining out. But now that we have Olive Garden all our problems have been solved.  Seriously, the thought of breadsticks alone is enough to make me drool a little.

We went for lunch one day and all together we were three adults and …

Sleep Training. What’s Your Take On It?

May it be like this every night.

If you ever want to spark a discussion in a group of moms, one thing you can bring up is how to sleep train your child. There are as many varying opinions on this matter as there are flavors of ice cream.

When Serophina was old enough to start sleeping in a crib, it was an almost nightly battle of her crying and fighting and calling out “mama!” reaching her little arms out from between the crib rails as if she was locked in a prison cell. It was heartbreaking!

I remember dreading putting her down for the night because she just …
