Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Post Breastfeeding- 6 Months and 10 Pounds Later

I stopped breastfeeding Saioa in June and I am so discouraged that since then I’ve gained 10 pounds! For me, breastfeeding kept all my excess weight off and it was awesome. I didn’t necessarily eat unhealthy, but there were times when I could eat like a man and see no sign of it on my body.

After breastfeeding, even though I’ve not changed my eating habits…. slowly, slowly…. 10 pounds have crept on. Not only that, but breastfeeding kept my spirits up. I will testify to the fact that it was a natural Prozac because when I stopped, my hormones and emotions went awry. I felt down in the dumps a …

Weaning A Toddler (And A Mommy!)

After twenty-one and half months of nursing my child, you’d think I’d be ready for a break…

Not so much!  Truth be told, I am having a much harder time with weaning that Isaac is!

I decided that this was a logical time to stop nursing for two reasons:

Back in the day...when all we did was nurse, poo and cry

One, my sweet angel (insert sarcasm here) is beginning to display some pretty impressive tantrums as he gets closer to turning 2, so I figured the “girls” should get while the gettin’ is good, so to speak.

And two, Chris is taking the kids to the …

She’s happy, just not hungry…

Maeve has a tooth!  It broke the skin a couple weeks ago and is slowly making its way out.  I think its mate, the other bottom-front tooth, is right under the skin and will soon make a debut appearance as well. It’s about that time in Maeve’s life when she begins to eat more baby food.  When I say more, I mean more types of food and larger quantities, too, yet she remains relatively uninterested in any food at all. When dinner time rolls around, Maeve sits in her high chair.  She’s moderately excited to eat, takes a bite or two of what little baby food I provide for her, and …

The Snow Birds loved Maeve!

This was taken from the condo's balcony.

Charlie and I took a trip to Fort Lauderdale for a few days while my parents kept Michael with them in Pittsburgh.  We are so fortunate to have my parents to enable us some quality time to ourselves.  Maeve is still breastfeeding and can’t be away from me for too long. Regardless, she’s really easy and we thoroughly enjoyed our time away.

We stayed at a friend’s condominium right on the Atlantic Ocean.  From the condo’s front door, we looked down on the Inter-coastal waterway and from the back porch we could throw a stone into the ocean.  The weather was 80 degrees …

Wedding day bliss

Charlie feeds Maeve cereal.

Our recent wedding day was full of excitement and emotion.  It wasn’t our special day, but almost as memorable.

Michael and Maeve did a great job for my parent’s friends who watched them while we attended the wedding.  I was confident that they were in good hands and that everything would go smoothly.  I had three bottles pumped for Maeve, she’s also now eating baby cereal, and can fall asleep in the crib on her own.  And as long as Michael has someone to play with, he’s good to go.

The Sullivans, my parent’s dear friends, came over before we had to leave for the wedding ceremony. …

Is it already time?

Maeve will be 6 months this month.  I can’t believe the time is passing so quickly.  As trite as it may be, it feels like I brought her home from the hospital just a few weeks ago.  Now, she’s too big for 6 months-size clothes.

As she approaches the six-month mark, I am faced with a big step in her development:  introducing baby cereal to her diet.  When my son was this age, he was already eating cereal.  Michael also could eat 24/7 as a baby and is still a big eater as he grows into a little boy.

Maeve’s a great sleeper, so I’m not inclined to give her cereal in hopes …
