I think we'll survive!
I am no longer breastfeeding Saioa. I never had an end-date in mind but at 15 months old I felt like it was time. Being able to be at home with her and nurse her for this long has been an absolute dream.
She never did take a bottle and fortunately it was never really necessary. Once she started eating solids there was no need for me to push the bottle on her and by then our nursing sessions were reserved for naps and bedtime. Now she drinks whole milk out of a sippy cup and it’s nice that I won’t have to wean her …
We all know Joshua likes to eat. And eat, and eat, and eat. Those thighs certainly don’t grow themselves. While there are few solids he’s eaten and not liked (nothing comes to mind, to be honest), there is one food he’s starting to not like – formula.
Joshua has been a formula baby since my milk supply ran out just before he was six months old. And for the past five months, he’s been completely happy with formula. It’s plentiful, warm, and fills his vast tummy.
Now that he’s eating real food, though, and he no longer thinks formula is so fabulous. He will take a bottle first thing in the morning and if we’re out during …

What's in that bottle?
While I was pregnant with Saioa, I remember reading about a study that linked obesity to having oatmeal too early in life. Something about how when babies get oatmeal or rice cereal in their bottle, they are unable to learn when they are truly full, and this stays with them through adulthood.
Serophina and Saioa never had oatmeal in their bottles, only because I just didn’t feel it was necessary. I wasn’t anxious to get them sleeping through the night, especially if their little bodies weren’t ready for it. Many parents start their babies on oatmeal for just that reason…to get their babies sleeping through …

This stuff can be a weary mom's best friend.
Saioa recently had her four-month checkup and I’m happy to say that she’s growing beautifully, as happy and healthy as can be. During her appointment, the Pediatrician asked how long I was planning to breastfeed for. I told him that because I’m a stay at home mom, I was willing to nurse for as long as it is recommended. We went over some things and my conclusion in regards to breastfeeding is this: I definitely am planning to breastfeed exclusively until she’s six months old. After six months, I’ll start supplementing with baby foods and other solids. I’d like …

Uh, that's not gonna work.
My girlfriends and I try to plan things every so often that don’t involve our kids. It’s usually an afternoon of scrap-booking or getting together to watch an episode of some cheesy reality show. (The Bachelorette is our choice of cheese right now). Usually these get-togethers occur at someone’s house, and since we all live in the same neighborhood, it’s pretty easy to just pop over for some quality girl time while hubby watches the kids.
For our next girly gathering we’ve decided to venture out of the neighborhood and into downtown Beaufort for some wine tasting action! Oh …
