Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

First Night in the Crib

Why was I so afraid of this?

Last week I wrote about how I was going to be moving Saioa from her bassinet and into her crib. I’m happy to report that she did absolutely wonderfully sleeping in her crib!

That first night I was sure to stick with her nighttime routine. We gave her a nice, long, warm bath, then baby massage, nighttime feeding and put her down in her crib. She didn’t even flinch! I was afraid she might not know what to do with herself with all that …

From Bassinet to Crib

When Saioa was three months old I was supposed to move her out of the bassinet next to our bed, into a crib in her own room. That day never happened. At her four month checkup her Pediatrician kindly reminded me that in order to start good sleep habits early, she should probably move into her own crib. Breastfed babies can smell their mother’s milk and if you’re trying to get them to sleep through the night, they might be less likely to wake up if they can’t smell their mother. I remember the lactation consultant telling me the same thing; she even suggested moving the bassinet to Kevin’s side …

Yeah, She’s Sleeping Through the Night. Oh Wait, No. Just Kidding.

Sweet dreams lovey love!

Not too long after I announced to the world that my sweet baby was sleeping through the night, she started not sleeping through the night. It was so nice of her to wait till after I boasted to my group of friends that “Yes, my baby sleeps through the night. Oh, yours doesn’t? Awww, poor you. I know, I’m so lucky. Yes, she’s such a good baby.”

She must’ve heard those conversations and was like “Oh no Mother, remember when you made me cry in my bassinet for a whole half a minute? Well take this!”

Recently she started waking up in the …
