Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Our week of firsts – Emily

Not wanting to be left out of all the fun (read here for Nathan’s recent firsts and read here for Joshua’s first), Emily had a recent first. Hers happened while we were out in Utah visiting Chad’s family, but we’ll still count it here.

Emily had never had her hair cut. Unlike boys’ hair which needs that first haircut much earlier, girls can go a lot longer before their first haircuts. Fellow blogger Kelly’s daughter Nora just had her first haircut.

Emily’s hair is so fine and thin that I was nervous about cutting it myself. It has also grown so slowly that it just hasn’t needed a cut until …

Mullet Or Bowl Cut Part 2

Can’t wait to see how this hair misadventure turned out?  If you didn’t catch part 1, please read it here.

So after Isaac had a whole new world to look at, through his unobstructed new hairstyle, I realized that although he could see better and was no longer hollering, we had a little problem.

Ok, it was a tad uneven, but the bigger problem was…he had a mullet!  Aww how cute, just like his Daddy–wait, no way, I don’t think so!  I had to remedy the solution quick before Chris saw it and wanted to keep Isaac mulleted out.

I grabbed the hand dandy scissors once again, and began to trim the …

What’s Worse, The Mullet Or The Bowl Cut?

No, this is not a trick question.

Yes, I know they are both somewhat unfortunate choices.  Lucky Isaac got to try both!

In a moment of weakness and desperation I finally caved after swearing up and down to prolong the haircut as long as possible, and I somehow ended up with a mullet, then tried to fix said hairstyle, which led to Isaac wearing the awesome bowl cut.

I might add that I have a personal history with both infamous hairstyles, which can still be spotted on a regular basis here (:  If you’ve got, it flaunt it!

I can also proudly admit that my husband used to sport a king daddy mullet, meaning it …

The Battle Over The Baby Perm-Video Post

The Facebook picture

If I had a dollar for every time my husband told me I needed to get Sayle’s hair cut, I would be a millionaire.  He and I were constantly engaging in a battle over Sayle’s hair.  My husband felt that I was making him look like a girl (whatever) by keeping it long and I felt that his hair was adorable and I was afraid if it was cut, he would lose his curls.

The battle turned nasty when he posted a bad hair day picture of Sayle on Facebook.  We had taken Sayle to the pool that morning and he had sunscreen in …

First Haircut At 4 Months?

111baby august

I have always had HIDEOUS heartburn with every pregnancy, including my last, so I KNEW that my August would be born with a head full of hair.  Sure enough, he didn’t cease to amaze me.

From day one, his hair has been really long and really REALLY tall.  I’m talkin’, it sticks straight up, ALL the time.  It’s awesome.  As I’ve said before, everywhere we go, people are always lovin’ on his fro.

Well, last week when I had a few friends over, one of them mentioned how Gus’ hair is starting to look like a greasy old man’s because it was getting so long.  I didn’t know whether to take …
