I think we'll survive!
I am no longer breastfeeding Saioa. I never had an end-date in mind but at 15 months old I felt like it was time. Being able to be at home with her and nurse her for this long has been an absolute dream.
She never did take a bottle and fortunately it was never really necessary. Once she started eating solids there was no need for me to push the bottle on her and by then our nursing sessions were reserved for naps and bedtime. Now she drinks whole milk out of a sippy cup and it’s nice that I won’t have to wean her …

Hi it's Saioa!
For being only one year old, Saioa is very talented with my cell phone. She can turn it on and off, change the ring tones or set it to vibrate. She freely uses the features that I get charged additional for, and she even will make phone calls. It’s not unusual for her to call someone and I have to explain that it was Saioa that wanted to talk to them and not me. And I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve missed a phone call or text because my phone was on some weird setting.
If you were to call my cell …
When referring to babies I’ve often heard myself and others say “This is such a great age.” The truth is that it’s a great age at any age in my opinion!
When we first brought Saioa home from the hospital, it was such a wonderful time. She was so tiny and perfect and the most beautiful addition to our little family. To compliment her arrival even more, the weather was as gorgeous as could be. It was spring and I would sit out on the front porch every morning while Saioa slept in my arms. The newborn baby stage is magical in its own right.
Then at around three or four months, …
Greetings from Florida! Yes, we made it! After dropping our dog off at the kennel a few days ago, we began our very long road trip to Grammy and Grampy’s house. Normally, the trip takes us 13 hours, but we have never had Braylin with us in the past. Although he wishes he could have, Ryan was unable to make this trip with us, so my friend, Emily flew up to help with this monster road trip!
We timed it just right and left the house just in time for Braylin’s morning nap, so we made it all the way to Myrtle Beach before we had to make our first stop. …

Trying to get on the bench at the National Monument in DC
Apparently Saioa has discovered her new passion in life… climbing. That baby of mine will climb everything and anything she possibly can! At fourteen months old, she seems to be climbing things just for fun.
It’s a relatively new habit that I am trying to get used to as well. It’s not unusual for me to be watching her play, I turn around to do something, look back at her and she’s on top of something or trying to get on top of something. She’s figured out that she can climb on the sofa if she …

Sometimes it's a guessing game
I’m happy to report that Saioa is talking now! It’s a talk that only Kevin and I can understand and she uses the same word for everything, but nonetheless, it’s talking alright!
She’s been saying mama for a while now, but she’s realized that her two other favorite words (milk and more) also sound like mama, so she’s decided to just call everything “Maaaa”.
So when she wants milk, she goes to the fridge, reaches for the handle, looks back at me and says “Maaaaa”
Milk? You got it. I pour her a glass in her sippy cup and the look of satisfaction on her face …
