Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

We’re Crawling!

My baby has learned to crawl.  The moment she made that first shaky move on the tile floor before bath time, our collective sigh of relief could have been heard from the front yard.  This is how we have reacted to most all of her major milestones, so far.

Lily spent her first week on this earth in the NICU at Pitt Memorial Hospital.  She was born at Carteret General, so you can imagine how shocked we were to learn that they were going to put her in a helicopter and fly her away from me when she was a mere 24 hours old.  It turns out she was having difficulty …

My Kid’s A Genius! Maybe?

That's definitely the face of a genius. Haha

My family constantly tells me how intelligent my daughter is. She sit’s up straight and everyone says “Oh look at her posture! She’s so smart!” She get’s 7 teeth in 2 months and the response is “Babies her age just don’t do that!” At what point do you listen? Or don’t you? Everyone wants to believe that their child is a genius.  It would be great to feel secure in their future. But is there a way to tell?

I’m not convinced that my daughter will be a Nobel Prize winner due to her rapid tooth arrival. She …

Angel Story

That's me in the picture holding Serophina when she was just a few days old.

This story was given to me when Serophina was born. It’s decorated on a canvas with a picture of me holding her. It’s always been on her bedroom wall and it’s a story that I’ve always loved and wanted to share with you.

Once upon a time, there was a child ready to be born. Realizing this, she asked God:

“They tell me you are sending me to earth soon but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”

Among the many angels, I chose one for you. She will be …

Growing Like a Weed……Except for the Hair

When will my child grow hair? She is 18 months now and still hardly has any hair. It’s growing nicely in the back so she has little ringlets but still not much on top or in the front. As cute as she is, the mullet thing is not really working for me. Of course I don’t dare give her a haircut to even things out. I just patiently wait for the day when she has normal hair.

If only her hair would grow like these weeds!

I know that a lot of kids don’t sprout real hair until after age two, but every now and then I’ll see …

Hasta La Vista Boobie

I think we'll survive!

I am no longer breastfeeding Saioa. I never had an end-date in mind but at 15 months old I felt like it was time. Being able to be at home with her and nurse her for this long has been an absolute dream.

She never did take a bottle and fortunately it was never really necessary. Once she started eating solids there was no need for me to push the bottle on her and by then our nursing sessions were reserved for naps and bedtime. Now she drinks whole milk out of a sippy cup and it’s nice that I won’t have to wean her …

My Baby, The Cell Phone Programmer

Hi it's Saioa!

For being only one year old, Saioa is very talented with my cell phone. She can turn it on and off, change the ring tones or set it to vibrate. She freely uses the features that I get charged additional for, and she even will make phone calls. It’s not unusual for her to call someone and I have to explain that it was Saioa that wanted to talk to them and not me. And I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve missed a phone call or text because my phone was on some weird setting.

If you were to call my cell …
