Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Too Little to be a Daredevil…

Braylin is only eight months old, but that isn’t slowing down her daredevil tendencies. She has been crawling for about a month and pulling up for about three weeks but I guess she is bored with those things and ready to move on.

This week, she discovered the back door which is solid glass. She likes to pull up on that and talk to Layla when she is outside. The trouble is that there is nothing for her to grip to stay standing, so she wipes out quite regularly.

She has also figured out how to step up and climb on stuff. I heard her one morning in her crib moving around …

Just a Little Car Shopping…

I have driven the same car (really it is an SUV, but I call it a car) since I was 16. Without telling everyone my age, I will tell you that is a long time. That car has seen so many things and I have so many memories that revolve around its greatness. It now has over 200,000 miles on it. Needless to say, the time has come for our family to get a new vehicle. As great as I think it is, it guzzles gas, it is old and has very few safety features, the list goes on…

Now the question is what kind of vehicle should we get? We …

What Are Safe Meds For Nursing Moms?

I came across this issue the other day when my ankles were both broken; ok they were not even close to broken but they sure felt like it.  I needed some relief, more than a hot bath or a foot massage… But what medicine could I take that would be safe for Isaac, as I still am breastfeeding him twice a day?  Good question! I called my pediatrician, and she said Ibuprofen was fine and would not effect my breast milk, so I popped a pill, propped my feet and opened my latest read (“The Shipping News,” in case you were wondering).

Yes, these are perfectly safe, Mrs. Moore, settle down

Maeve’s Nap-Time Scare

This picture doesn't do it justice. The crib was practically over flowing!

Recently I had a major scare. I put Michael and Maeve down for a nap as I do everyday.  They were both still awake but I gave them the opportunity to put themselves to sleep.  This actually gets them to sleep faster.  Our house is small and I can hear everything through the walls, so if one of them is still awake I know about it.

On this particular afternoon, Michael seemed extra playful.  I still designated nap-time to continue with our daily routine, but knew he didn’t want to sleep.  Regardless, I left the room and …

Snow boots are necessary, but also a nuisance

Maeve is bundled up.

We’re in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a week during Charlie’s block leave.  There’s snow everywhere, which you know I love if you’ve read any of my previous posts. Winters are supposed to be white (according to my Northern mind).

With the cold temperatures come the extra, thick layers:  long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, jacket, hat, gloves, and boots.  It takes several minutes just to get out the door.  When preparing to bear the wintery elements, the necessary accessories become nuisances.  I’ll explain.

Last night my family went to dinner to celebrate my sister’s 25th birthday.  We had a reservation at a hip, swanky restaurant that is one of our …

Winter Bliss: Our Snowy Day

Michael with his cousins.

Who was as excited for last week’s snowfall we received as I was?  Charlie didn’t have work for two days and we thoroughly enjoyed lazy mornings that turned into playful afternoons outside in the snow. You just can’t beat that!

After Charlie made chocolate chip pancakes (his specialty), while Michael watched a Mickey Mouse Club House on TV, we ate and got dressed to go outside.  Michael and Maeve looked so cute all bundled up, ready to conquer the accumulating snow.  When we got outside, it felt like some sort of block party. Our neighbors on all sides were outside with their children.

Our road was covered …
