What goes in must come out.
Saioa has started regularly eating baby foods. She was fickle about it up until recently but now I can give her some sort of baby food up to three times a day and she will usually gobble it all up.
I guess the only downfall to this is that she is creating more waste than I was prepared for. I took for granted how nice it was to only have only one poo diaper a week. (Yes, that’s perfectly normal for breastfed babies.) Now she’s going every other day and it’s big, textured and smelly! Not only that, but she gets constipated …

It happens every time I walk through the grocery store. I get that itch. I go down the baby row and I just stand there and stare at all the fun little baby food. All the meals and snacks call my name for me to buy them and try them out. All the jars reach out for me to take them home. I always see all these cute moms feeding their adorable babies wearing bibs, making airplane noise and wiping their messy mouths with the spoon. I want to be that mom! I want to feed my baby! Sometimes I give in and I load my cart up with …

In just a few days, Isaak will be 21 months. He is long past the days of living off of a bottle and now has quite the massive appetite. I usually stay so busy throughout the day with Gus’ schedule that I sometimes overlook the fact that I need to actually prepare something for Isaak to eat, but don’t worry, he doesn’t let me completely forget! With his newly obtained vocabulary, he’ll run right up to me and repeat, “Eat! Eat! Eat!” over and over again until I get the point.
I usually end up giving him whatever is the quickest, easiest, and will make the least mess. I’m all …
Apparently Isaac does not need my help with his meals anymore. He allows me to get the peas out of the fridge, or whatever delicious veggie puree on today’s menu, and mix the cereal, but that’s about it. As soon as I put the first bite in his mouth, all bets are off — the spoon is in his death grip and the food is in his hair, up his nose, and even a little bit in his mouth, thank goodness.

Gimme that spoon!
I admit, at first it was just a cute photo op, and I thought he was just being silly, but then I realized Isaac …
If you don’t know, check this out!
WIC stands for “women, infants and children,” and it is a federal program designed to provide food to low-income pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children until the age of five.
Besides free food, this program also provides nutritional information, breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals for health care. Their website says they also provide infant formula, but I cannot personally vouch for that as I have not utilized that option.
WIC has been so helpful for our family, even when I was pregnant. The ladies there were so sweet and supportive! They even arranged for me to borrow a nice hospital grade double breast pump, …

The first round of Isaak's allergy testing, age 9 months.
After Kora’s experience with food allergies, I felt relieved to know I had conquered that frustration and was ready to move on to the next. As all mothers know, there is always a”next”. Three years had passed since Kora was born and we adopted a child after that. It wasn’t until Kora was almost 6 that we added our 4th child, Isaak.
Isaak was a precious little baby! He had the sweetest little smile and for the first 6 months of his life, he was quite the easy …
