Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Dealing With Pets and Toddlers

My dog Cardi has not liked Sayle from day one. My husband and I weren’t shocked that she didn’t fall in love with the new addition to the family the way that Foster did , but we were surprised by her behavior. She pouted for the first couple of days, even resorting to gnawing the leg of a rocking chair on our back porch-and she has never chewed anything in her life! She usually wanted to be right up next to me or in my lap, typical behavior for her pre-Sayle, but she sat by herself and became withdrawn from the family.

The Dog Cashes In-Video Post

I have blogged about Sayle’s furry BFF before, but if you don’t remember, our miniature pinscher Foster is truly Sayle’s buddy.

When we brought Sayle home from the hospital, Foster turned into Baby Guard Dog and that still holds true a year later.  Foster brings Sayle his ball and Sayle throws it for him.  They play tug of war, and the game gets pretty intense until Foster pulls Sayle over.  Foster allows Sayle to pull up on him and yank his fur, ears, and legs and Foster tolerates Sayle’s “petting” which is really slapping with love.  Also, Foster serves as my ears in the early morning when I don’t respond to Sayle’s cries fast enough.  If Sayle starts to fuss …

Sayle and the Doggie Door (Video)

This video is a prime example as to why we live on Baby Alcatraz.  Sayle has been keeping a close eye on the doggie door.  He documented the times the doggie door is usually open for business and exactly how the dogs use it.  When the opportunity presented itself, Sayle tried to make a quick break for the land of freedom, aka-the back deck.  Unfortunately, the Warden was sitting close by (with a video camera) and the dogs were on the other side telling him that door was the only thing in the house that wasn’t his.  Obviously, Sayle is taking everything in and figuring things out!

I thought I had a few years before I had to worry about him …

Keeping Your Baby, Husband, and Dog Entertained (Video Post)

Ever since we brought Sayle home from the hospital, our Miniature Pinscher named Foster has been his best friend.  Foster loves to “play ball” and will literally play all day long if he has a captive audience.  Fortunately for Foster, he has found this audience in Sayle who is absolutely mesmerized by him.

Here is just one of a million videos we have of them together, this time my husband got in on the fun.
