Sarah? Is Isaac my real brother? I was told that since we don’t have the same mom that we aren’t really related and he is not really my brother.”
Wow, my stepdaughter asks some loaded questions! When I first heard this one it hurt my heart that Marissa might not love Isaac as a “real” sibling just because I am not her birth mother. Then I realized that there was no truth to that; and that she loves my son regardless of what others might tell her. Marissa entertains him by singing, making funny faces, and playing peek-a-boo, and she always wants to hold him, and Isaac laughs at anything she does …
I have a bona-fide dancer in my family, my Isaak. He LOVES to rock out to anything, everything, anywhere, and anytime. I love it. This is when we went to a restaurant this weekend and were seated in the waiting room as well as our dancing fun on the way home. He didn’t even care that everyone was watching him at the restaurant. I love that! PS…His cheeks are rosy because he is DEAD tired. He decided to skip his nap that day and play in his bed for 2 hours instead. PSS..I apologize for the crying baby in the first half of the video. That’s not mine. Just kidding, it is. *wink*…
I am exceptionally lucky to work for a company that is family based and to have a supervisor who allowed me the privilege of bringing Sayle with me to work. I returned to the office after taking one month of maternity leave, but the transition back to the office was easy since I didn’t have the anxiety of putting Sayle in daycare early. I am also fortunate to have co-workers who were eagerly awaiting his arrival my entire pregnancy. They love Sayle and jumped at the chance to hold, feed, play, and rock him. They have served as a valuable support for me and I doubt I would have been able to return to work easily without them. …

The other day I received a phone call from my sister, Amy. She has two kids who are both very young. She had called me because she was going crazy in her house, trying to find fun things to do with her young children. She was at a point of extreme stress and frustration because she felt like she never has enough for her little ones to do. In which case, they always end up watching television all day, or fighting with each other. I laughed a little under my breath because heaven knows, we’re ALL been there.
After calming her down and sharing …
For Valentines Day my husband purchased scuba diving lessons/certification classes for me. He went to the Navy dive school and wanted me to become certified so we could scuba dive together. We have big plans/dreams of getting our kids scuba certified as a birthday present for their tenth birthday.
Garrett and I thought it would be best for me to get certified now while we only have one child. Garrett wanted to watch Nora while I took the classes. Our talks had always been dreams/future tense. Not present tense.
I grew up a ‘pool rat’ as my sisters and I would say. We spent every summer day playing in the water or lounging …
What’s better than a bathtub full of rubber duckies and whales?
An aquarium full of real fish and other sea creatures, of course!

Here fishy fishy
Back in December the aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores had one of their free admission days, so you know I was all over that, being the money saving queen that I am. I am always on the prowl for free or low cost fun activities in the area, and I had been keeping tabs on the aquarium for months (:
Isaac absolutely loved it! He was only four and a half months at the time and I wasn’t sure if he would really comprehend all …
Sayle had a pediatrician appointment Monday morning for his second round of the H1N1 shot and flu shot. We would have had the second round earlier, but we were busy battling ear infections and ridiculous fevers left and right so he could not have the shots.
When we got there, the waiting room was packed so I had to take the only seat available, next to a woman who did not look like she felt fantastic. Thankfully we only had to wait about ten minutes before the nurse brought us back. Sayle was not happy about getting the shots, but I was able to quickly divert his attention with Glow Worm (a …
I have come to the realization that Dory and Marlin from Finding Nemo are based on me. I know that is a bit arrogant, but let’s look at the facts…

Dory is an optimistic but confused female with freckles and short term memory loss (momnesia, perhaps?) Me in a nutshell.
Marlin is a paranoid and overprotective parent who has trouble letting go of his son and tells cheesy jokes. Also me, except Marlin was a male, oh well.
Now I know these are fictional fishies in a cartoon kids movie, but now that I have become a parent I see myself in these two characters. Marlin promises to never let anything happen to little …

Nora
One of the things I am currently struggling with in my roles as Mom is when to go to the emergency room. I’m not a fan of ERs. There are a lot of sick people there so I’m always worried that Nora is going to get sicker than she already is plus the wait always seems to be astronomically long.
Since coming to NC I have found one of the most valuable resources a Mom can have; the nurse advice line. I have been trying to stay away from the Internet because every time I try to Google symptoms, cancer or some other worse case scenario always comes up …
I think being a mother to a daughter is such a great and scary responsibility. There is so much I feel I must teach her! I don’t wa
nt to be always ‘talking and lecturing’ to her but I want her to watch the way I live my life and learn that way. I want her to see the way I take care of myself, the way I treat others, the great faith I have in God and in prayer, the way I fulfill my personal dreams, the way I embrace my creativity, the way I choose to be unique and true to myself and the way other’s feel when they are around me.
Boy that …
