Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

What Is A Clean House?

I’m an anal person. I fully admit that. I love to clean and organize. Having a baby makes this nearly impossible. I clean up my house just to have her follow me and take it all out again. My living room looks like a disaster area on a regular basis. I’ve learned rather quickly that you can’t have nice things with a baby. I’ve had my furniture for 2 weeks and they are already covered in snot, milk, eggs, and cookie crumbs. All house decorations have to be up high or else she will get them. There is a huge change in my idea of a home. Pre-baby I thought of my perfect home as lot’s of strategically placed decorations and accents, always in pristine condition, and never any dirt or  mess. Now my perfect house has books everywhere, toys in and on the furniture, random cookies in the couch

There Is Nothing Happy About Disney Movies-Video Post

When I think of Disney, I think of childhood heaven, happiness, hugs, kisses, peace, love, and Mickey Mouse.  Disney World, DisneyLand-the happiest places on the planet.  Let us all hold hands and sing It’s a Small World and wear Mousketeer ears. But that’s not really the case with Disney movies.  Not when you really think about it. We all saw Disney movies in the theaters as kids.  I specifically remember going to see Lady and the Tramp and crying my eyes during the scene where they are dragging a pound dog to be put to sleep.  I’ve tried to block the details of the scene out, but you only saw the shadow of the dog fighting against the leash.  I also suffer from post traumatic stress syndrome from Bambi and Dumbo-easily the two saddest Disney films I remember to date.  Thankfully, I have suppressed Bambi’s mom getting shot.  Unfortunately, we

String Cheese Addiction

Saioa has definitely turned a new leaf when it comes to eating especially during dinner time. This may be because she is copying her sister eating or because we make a huge deal every time she takes a bite. Whatever the case may be, I don’t mind one bit because it helps her realize she actually likes food! One thing she is very good at is taking me to the fridge, making me open the door, then getting her favorite snacks out herself. The most popular snack right now is string cheese and she always remembers it’s in there every time she sees me even remotely near the fridge. Now that she has access to the kitchen and can reach the bottom pantry herself, she freely helps herself to other snacks. I consider that a good thing, or else she’d be eating string cheese all the time. Some other regulars

My Kid’s A Genius! Maybe?

My family constantly tells me how intelligent my daughter is. She sit’s up straight and everyone says “Oh look at her posture! She’s so smart!” She get’s 7 teeth in 2 months and the response is “Babies her age just don’t do that!” At what point do you listen? Or don’t you? Everyone wants to believe that their child is a genius.  It would be great to feel secure in their future. But is there a way to tell? I’m not convinced that my daughter will be a Nobel Prize winner due to her rapid tooth arrival. She was playing on her electric piano the other day though and she could copy every tune I played. That was pretty awesome. But I’m still not convinced she’s Mozart. I choose to roll my eyes at my family’s comments. I prefer not to think about it. I would love for Abigail to

Two Kids, A Small Town and Nothing To Do

It is often very frustrating living in a small town like this one. There is nothing to do around here. It’s the perfect little community if you are looking to retire in a quiet area. Because that’s exactly what it is…. quiet. Our biggest event comes around once a year and that’s the Seafood Festival. There are a couple little museums, if you can even call it that. We’ve been there endless times and have memorized every inch of them. The History Place, as charming as it is, takes about 10 minutes to walk through. The Maritime Museum takes us about 15 minutes, 20 if we really milk it. The aquarium rocks but our membership has ended and we will not renew it since we’re moving in the summer. So, that’s 3 reliable places that I’ve been able to take my kids in the past 4 years that we’ve lived

Newest CuddleBug’s Blogger: Laurie Morris

First off, I am so excited to be joining the MomTalk community and the CuddleBugs blog. I can’t wait to share my stories and read about everyone else’s roller-coaster experiences. Together, we will grow and learn from each other. Originally, born in Rochester Minnesota, I was raised in Richmond Virginia, a beautiful city and wonderful place to spend a childhood.  I ran off to college, armed with as much common sense as I thought I would ever need and settled in at East Carolina University where I met my soon to be husband, Daniel.  We married shortly after graduating and planted ourselves in Raleigh to begin our lives together.  Daniel and I knew very early on that we were going to get married.  It was meant to be.  If I had gotten into my first choice school, I would never have set foot in North Carolina, let alone Greenville.  If
