There Is Nothing Happy About Disney Movies-Video Post
When I think of Disney, I think of childhood heaven, happiness, hugs, kisses, peace, love, and Mickey Mouse. Disney World, DisneyLand-the happiest places on the planet. Let us all hold hands and sing It’s a Small World and wear Mousketeer ears. But that’s not really the case with Disney movies. Not when you really think about it. We all saw Disney movies in the theaters as kids. I specifically remember going to see Lady and the Tramp and crying my eyes during the scene where they are dragging a pound dog to be put to sleep. I’ve tried to block the details of the scene out, but you only saw the shadow of the dog fighting against the leash. I also suffer from post traumatic stress syndrome from Bambi and Dumbo-easily the two saddest Disney films I remember to date. Thankfully, I have suppressed Bambi’s mom getting shot. Unfortunately, we
She’s A Trouble Maker
I’m not so proud to say that my daughter is a trouble maker and she’s just shy of a year old. How do I know? Well there are a couple signs. 1. She has an evil laugh. I’m talking like, if she could form the sounds it would be an erie MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. 2. She purposely defies when she knows she shouldn’t be doing something. For example, she likes to play in our dogs food and water dishes. I tell her no and remove her from the situation. She immediately speed crawls back to them but purposefully stops half way, looks back, gives her evil laugh as if she’s saying “Try and stop me!” and then proceeds to the dishes. She thinks that she is hilarious. 3. She bites. I’m not talking a little nibble. She will grab any part of my body she can and just clamp down with her
My Kid’s A Genius! Maybe?
My family constantly tells me how intelligent my daughter is. She sit’s up straight and everyone says “Oh look at her posture! She’s so smart!” She get’s 7 teeth in 2 months and the response is “Babies her age just don’t do that!” At what point do you listen? Or don’t you? Everyone wants to believe that their child is a genius. It would be great to feel secure in their future. But is there a way to tell? I’m not convinced that my daughter will be a Nobel Prize winner due to her rapid tooth arrival. She was playing on her electric piano the other day though and she could copy every tune I played. That was pretty awesome. But I’m still not convinced she’s Mozart. I choose to roll my eyes at my family’s comments. I prefer not to think about it. I would love for Abigail to
Mom Ears
It wasn’t long after my little one was born that I found my hearing had changed dramatically. I would liken it to that of a bat’s. If I needed to, I’m sure I could hear her crying from miles away. I can even hear her crying when she isn’t! I had found my Mom Ears. What are Mom Ears? –The ability to hear and know exact movements she is making without seeing her, whether the slightest sound on the monitor requires a 40 yard dash, or deciphering the sound of your child above a crowd. Another phenomenon of Mom Ears has to do with the ability to tune out unpleasant sounds. For me, this trait showed itself one day while riding in the car next to my precious princess. My husband was driving and my sweet angel was, of course, crying inconsolably as she did so frequently those first few
It’s The Weekend, Which Lucky Parent Will Get To Sleep In?
I’m sure that all parents have this question in their heads as the weekend approaches. In my house, we never actually discuss it, but come Saturday morning and we hear that first holler from Saioa at 6am….. both of us pretend that we don’t hear it in hopes that the other one will get up. Kevin and I are up early every morning during the week. He’s up to go to work and I’m up because I’m always at work. On the weekend there’s usually at least one day where he will get up early to go surfing. So that means I’m up early as well so the girls aren’t running a muck by themselves. But then there’s that one day, either a Saturday or a Sunday that either he gets to sleep in, or I do. I think that I get up with the kids most times so that
Well Hello Again!
If you don’t recognize me I used to write for tummytime but moved away while my husband deployed for a year, and now I’m back. So guess what that means? My husband is ALMOST back too! Also that I get to join CuddleBugs! Yay! So how about a quick intro? My name is Breanna Sykes. I have a beautiful daughter who will be turning 11 months in a couple of days. I have been a temporarily single mom since 10 weeks after Abigail was born. My husband deployed and I moved back to NY to be surrounded by family. I have been blessed with an angel. Seriously, my daughter is awesome. At 2 weeks old, she decided she was going to sleep through the night and has kept up with it ever since. She’s always smiling and rarely cries. She knows some sign language to let me know when she
