Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

What Is A Clean House?

I’m an anal person. I fully admit that. I love to clean and organize. Having a baby makes this nearly impossible. I clean up my house just to have her follow me and take it all out again. My living room looks like a disaster area on a regular basis. I’ve learned rather quickly that you can’t have nice things with a baby. I’ve had my furniture for 2 weeks and they are already covered in snot, milk, eggs, and cookie crumbs. All house decorations have to be up high or else she will get them. There is a huge change in my idea of a home. Pre-baby I thought of my perfect home as lot’s of strategically placed decorations and accents, always in pristine condition, and never any dirt or  mess. Now my perfect house has books everywhere, toys in and on the furniture, random cookies in the couch

There Is Nothing Happy About Disney Movies-Video Post

When I think of Disney, I think of childhood heaven, happiness, hugs, kisses, peace, love, and Mickey Mouse.  Disney World, DisneyLand-the happiest places on the planet.  Let us all hold hands and sing It’s a Small World and wear Mousketeer ears. But that’s not really the case with Disney movies.  Not when you really think about it. We all saw Disney movies in the theaters as kids.  I specifically remember going to see Lady and the Tramp and crying my eyes during the scene where they are dragging a pound dog to be put to sleep.  I’ve tried to block the details of the scene out, but you only saw the shadow of the dog fighting against the leash.  I also suffer from post traumatic stress syndrome from Bambi and Dumbo-easily the two saddest Disney films I remember to date.  Thankfully, I have suppressed Bambi’s mom getting shot.  Unfortunately, we

Exploring Jacksonville

One recent weekend, we took advantage of some glorious weather to go exploring.  This winter has been amazing for wonderful weather.  Thank you, North Carolina. Anyway, we decided to go explore one of the parks the area has to offer.  We headed to the Northeast Creek Park, located on Corbin Drive in Jacksonville.  We’ve been to the playground side before (very underwhelming, some older equipment, and not fenced in), and this time we decided to check out the nature trail along the water. I’m a sucker for anything along the water.  Being near the water, be it a creek, lake, or the ocean, just makes me happy.  The kids were also excited to go hiking in the woods.  So, a nature trail along the water sounded like a perfect way to spend a morning. The trail did not disappoint.  A significant length of it runs along boardwalks built either adjacent

Happy Birthday Nathan!

Last week, the day Grandma and Grandpa arrived in fact, Nathan celebrated his fifth birthday!  To say he was excited would be quite the understatement.  He is, after all, five. The day was a pretty quiet one, starting off with cinnamon rolls with dad for breakfast and playing with Emily and Joshua most of the morning.  We had Chick-fil-A for lunch (his request), followed by naptime, then off to meet Grandma and Grandpa.  Their favorite restaurant is Mike’s Farm out past the airport, so we had dinner there.  Then, it was home for cupcakes and presents. He got some fun presents including more Trio blocks, a few super heroes, and a Playmobil dragon and knight.  His big present was a bit of an almost mean trick.  He had asked for a bike, and we wanted to be able to go pick it out the day after his birthday.  So in

Mamta’s Amazing Laundry Feat

Does the laundry in your house multiply faster than bacteria in a petri dish? Do you ever find yourself increasingly frustrated because you’re running late and you can’t find anything to wear because most of your clothes are in the laundry? Is the carpet in your house disappearing underneath the dirty laundry that has long overflowed out of the basket? Have you ever had to dedicate an entire day just to doing 7 or more loads of laundry….. washing, drying, folding… and maybe putting away? This used to be the story of my life. And then one day, after my umpteenth load of laundry, I decided I didn’t ever want to go through that again. I liked that there were clean towels and sheets, everyone’s dresser was full of clean underwear, and the laundry baskets were all empty. I liked the feeling so much that I wanted it to be

My Kid’s A Genius! Maybe?

My family constantly tells me how intelligent my daughter is. She sit’s up straight and everyone says “Oh look at her posture! She’s so smart!” She get’s 7 teeth in 2 months and the response is “Babies her age just don’t do that!” At what point do you listen? Or don’t you? Everyone wants to believe that their child is a genius.  It would be great to feel secure in their future. But is there a way to tell? I’m not convinced that my daughter will be a Nobel Prize winner due to her rapid tooth arrival. She was playing on her electric piano the other day though and she could copy every tune I played. That was pretty awesome. But I’m still not convinced she’s Mozart. I choose to roll my eyes at my family’s comments. I prefer not to think about it. I would love for Abigail to
