My Little Escape Artist
We have a new heightened awareness in our house after a recent incident. It was a Saturday afternoon and we were all just kind of lounging around the house doing our own thing. Kevin was in and out of the house a lot because he was working on stuff in the garage. Serophina was by his side the whole time, like she usually is when he’s home. Saioa spent half her time outside with Kevin and then inside with me. Well, there was a moment when I heard Kevin say he was going to brush Kona. I was distracted with something else so a little while later when I heard the garage door open, I didn’t really think anything of it. Then I realized Saioa wasn’t around. I thought she probably was outside with Kevin. I stopped what I was doing to go check. I was a little horrified when
Missing Emily
One day this week while Nathan was at preschool, Emily, Joshua, and I went to the mall to look at something. We parked near the Barnes and Noble since that was near our shopping destination. Plus, I love books, and walking through bookstores makes me happy. On our way back to the car, as we headed through Barnes and Noble, we made a little pit stop at their new toy section. If you haven’t been yet, you really should. They have a lot of interesting, fun toys there. They also have a Duplo building table. That’s a major hit in my little crowd. With Nathan’s birthday coming up, I wanted to see if there were any toys that Emily wanted to get her big brother for his birthday. We spent a few minutes looking around, but nothing really caught our eye. I turned around to pick up a game to
He Loves To Stand
It’s not new that Ben loves to stand. He’s loved it for months. He loves it when you hold his hands and let him stand: on the floor, on your lap, on a table, anywhere. But the new phenomenon is being able to stand on his own. Over the past week, Ben finally learned how to pull himself up to standing and hold himself up. That made me very excited (another milestone conquered!), but then came the scary part: standing in his crib. I am not a handy person, at all. So when this first started happening, I was both happy and terrified. We still had about a week or so before Matt would be home from training (and could thus lower the crib mattress), and all I could think about was Ben pulling himself up to standing, and then toppling over the side of his crib. I was scared
It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like a Move…
Over the past few weeks, I have eluded to a move that would be taking place in our near future. Well, it looks like that move will be taking place a little sooner than we anticipated! Ryan has to check into his new duty station a couple of days after the new year so we have decided to move next week! I know it may seem crazy to move an entire household that quickly, but we don’t want to spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s moving and we were planning to go away for Christmas anyway so it just works out to rush ourselves! We are going to do a dity move which means do it yourself as opposed to having movers come and do everything for us. We are only moving one state away and we don’t have a ton of stuff, so it seems like a
Keep Your Hands Off My Son (Part 2)
If you missed the first part, you can read it here. My breaking point was the other night, while in MD for Thanksgiving weekend, when everyone was downstairs, either watching the game or playing with Isaac and his mountain of toys. Greg was really into the game, and had already gotten snippy with the noise coming from the play area. Suddenly Isaac ran over to him to try and hug him, my brother impatiently pushed my son away, causing him to fall, and I. SAW. RED! Of course out came Mama Bear, claws and all. There was some yelling and inappropriate language involved from myself, and needless to say Greg was given the boot. Isaac was totally fine, just brushed it off and quickly went back to playtime, but I was still raging inside, and am still. It’s one thing to want nothing to do with Isaac, which I think
Keep Your Hands Off My Son (Part 1)
I have a valid issue here that has been brewing for some time now, and I’d like to share it and see what you guys have to say. Kind of a personal issue, but maybe airing it out on a blog might help! I hope you guys don’t mind the usual deviation from my lighter more fun-loving subjects (: My youngest brother, of the gross bathroom habit fame, has always been a bit standoffish with Isaac, ever since he as born. No idea why, but that is just how it has always been, and I was hoping that once Greg got used to his nephew he would warm up to him more. I assumed the problem was the constant crying and explosive diapers that went along with the infant stage, which was enough to drive anyone crazy, even me at times! But as Isaac got older and was able to
