Cassy Fiano

Hi everyone! My name is Cassy Fiano. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida. My husband and I met when we were twelve, at a birthday party where he fell on the pool deck and broke one of his front teeth. I worked in several different fields until I got married. My husband and I knew that we wanted to have a family and that when we did, I would be a stay-at-home mommy. Last July, we found out I was pregnant, and on the day of my first doctor’s appointment, he deployed to Afghanistan. Unfortunately, during my pregnancy, I ended up with preeclampsia. Luckily, my husband returned the morning of my scheduled induction, so the day he came home from Afghanistan was the day we went to the hospital. 16 hours and a c-section later, we had our beautiful little boy, Benjamin. Being a parent has changed my life. I’ve learned to be more patient; that it’s possible to operate on two hours of sleep, and I’ve also learned that I never really knew what stress was until I experienced a baby crying inconsolably for four hours straight. I’ve learned that looking at my son sleeping in my arms can move me to tears, that I never really loved anyone the way I love my him, and that all of the hard times can be completely wiped away with one little smile. The last four months have been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to share the rest of it with you!

My name is Tammy Summers. I am originally from Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State University. For fifteen years, I have been teaching here in North Carolina. Over this time, I have had the opportunity to work with students of all grade levels. I thoroughly enjoy my work and look forward to helping my students succeed. I am also the mother of three children. Zachary is eleven and Bethany is ten. Timothy is my youngest and he is three. My older two have a tendency to “mother” Timothy. This makes for some interesting situations. I guess they feel a responsibility to look after him because he is so little. They all love each other and get along well. You may be wondering why there is such a big age difference between my older two and Timmy. My husband and I didn’t plan to have a third child. We just assumed that we would only have two. Needless to say, we were surprised when we found out that I was expecting (at the age of thirty-nine). I can’t tell you how much joy and entertainment he brings to our lives. He is indeed my little “cuddlebug”. We are thrilled to have him as part of our family. Every night when he cuddles up on my lap and says, “I love you Mommy” he thrills my heart. I thank God that we have been blessed with three very loving children. Timothy never ceases to amaze me with the things he says and does. Life is never dull when he is around. He is at that terrific age when you never know what to expect. I am looking forward to sharing some of these wonderful experiences with you.
