My husbands’ Aunt celebrated a big milestone birthday last week, so the family decided to get together and throw her a surprise party to celebrate! I had no clue how big of a production it was to pull a woman away from all of her duties and how hard it was going to be to surprise her, but we pulled it off! She has three sons who were all involved, along with her husband, in getting her out of the house. Her sons were actually at the house when she left and were able to time it right to where they arrived at the party before she did–she didn’t suspect a thing!
We hired someone to cater, and had a pasta bar with three different types of pasta, three different sauces–meat marinara, alfredo and a spinach mushroom and artichoke sauce. We also had salad and garlic cheddar biscuits. For dessert, I got to put some of my baking practice to good use and made a cake and lots of different types of cupcakes–chocolate, pumpkin and vanilla.
We ate, sang Happy Birthday and ate some more! We did a little dancing, chatting and a lot of laughing. It was a fun evening and a great birthday party if you ask me!
