Ashley Mozingo

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley, and I am a stay at home mom to two girls, Paislee, 3 and Keely, 1. My husband is in the Coast Guard, and is currently stationed at a Coast Guard unit on Camp Lejune. We have been married for five years now and have spent two of those years in Alaska, where Paislee was born, and two in Maine, where we had Keely. We were lucky to get stationed here in 2012, and call North Carolina "home". We were both born and raised in different cities in eastern North Carolina, and we are super excited to get to spend some time here with our girls and introduce them to some of our favorite places that we had as children. Before I met my husband, I attended East Carolina University, where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications. I have a love for writing, and a huge passion for being a mom, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to write about my experiences and exciting moments of this rocky ride that we all call 'Motherhood'.

Our Pack

Now that we have a new member of the family, our dog Peanut, the responsibility is falling on everyone. Our youngest child is feeling the effects of not having cuddle time in the morning because it has become more important to get the dog outside to avoid any accidents. The dog has been successful, but Ava I think is having some separation anxiety. She thinks I am leaving her when really I am just in the front yard for a quick minute. The day is getting off to a bad start and I am nervous for our morning routine once school starts.

I had a long chat with the kids about what we needed to do now that we have a dog and I think they understood. I explained that I need their help. Our puppy training is going well but walking on the leash has been a struggle. He is a stubborn dog that just doesn’t want to walk. I explained to the girls that every morning we needed to walk him. I told them that we need to show Peanut how to be part of our family and for dogs they call it a pack. I have taught them to use the same commands and to walk strong so our dog would be apart of the group. I hope tomorrow morning will be better. I am going to try to make it more fun for everyone so we can get a better start to the day.
Please share any suggestions for puppy and kid training!
