Since our first anniversary, we have done the same thing every year. We always go to dinner at The Melting Pot, no matter where we are. The Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant, where you can get different types of fondue and lots of different foods to dip in it. Luckily, we have always been close enough to home around the time of our anniversary to have the girls grandparents babysit for us. The Melting Pot is always a fun experience for us, and we always feel extra special when we eat there. We make reservations ahead of time and let them know that we are celebrating our anniversary, and we get a nice, private table.
We really love going to The Melting Pot because it’s a fun experience, but not something you want to do all the time, and definitely not somewhere you would want to take the kids. Doing the same thing every year for our anniversary is fun for us because we always know what our plans are for that day and in a weird way, this is a way to actually make us do it because we can’t break our tradition! When you have kids it’s easy to cancel plans or just forget about it because you don’t want to find a babysitter or leave the kids, but this is something that is special to us so we make sure we plan accordingly every year–and since we very rarely get date nights it is a hard thing to turn down when the time comes around once a year
