Ashley Mozingo

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley, and I am a stay at home mom to two girls, Paislee, 3 and Keely, 1. My husband is in the Coast Guard, and is currently stationed at a Coast Guard unit on Camp Lejune. We have been married for five years now and have spent two of those years in Alaska, where Paislee was born, and two in Maine, where we had Keely. We were lucky to get stationed here in 2012, and call North Carolina "home". We were both born and raised in different cities in eastern North Carolina, and we are super excited to get to spend some time here with our girls and introduce them to some of our favorite places that we had as children. Before I met my husband, I attended East Carolina University, where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications. I have a love for writing, and a huge passion for being a mom, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to write about my experiences and exciting moments of this rocky ride that we all call 'Motherhood'.

Happy Anniversary!

Last weekend my husband and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary. We rarely get out without the kids, but this is one day that we insist on getting a baby sitter and having some alone time!

Since our first anniversary, we have done the same thing every year. We always go to dinner at The Melting Pot, no matter where we are. The Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant, where you can get different types of fondue and lots of different foods to dip in it. Luckily, we have always been close enough to home around the time of our anniversary to have the girls grandparents babysit for us. The Melting Pot is always a fun experience for us, and we always feel extra special when we eat there. We make reservations ahead of time and let them know that we are celebrating our anniversary, and we get a nice, private table.

We really love going to The Melting Pot because it’s a fun experience, but not something you want to do all the time, and definitely not somewhere you would want to take the kids. Doing the same thing every year for our anniversary is fun for us because we always know what our plans are for that day and in a weird way, this is a way to actually make us do it because we can’t break our tradition! When you have kids it’s easy to cancel plans or just forget about it because you don’t want to find a babysitter or leave the kids, but this is something that is special to us so we make sure we plan accordingly every year–and since we very rarely get date nights it is a hard thing to turn down when the time comes around once a year :)

How do you celebrate your anniversary with your significant other? Do you have any special traditions?
