Ashley Mozingo

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley, and I am a stay at home mom to two girls, Paislee, 3 and Keely, 1. My husband is in the Coast Guard, and is currently stationed at a Coast Guard unit on Camp Lejune. We have been married for five years now and have spent two of those years in Alaska, where Paislee was born, and two in Maine, where we had Keely. We were lucky to get stationed here in 2012, and call North Carolina "home". We were both born and raised in different cities in eastern North Carolina, and we are super excited to get to spend some time here with our girls and introduce them to some of our favorite places that we had as children. Before I met my husband, I attended East Carolina University, where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications. I have a love for writing, and a huge passion for being a mom, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to write about my experiences and exciting moments of this rocky ride that we all call 'Motherhood'.

First Movie Theater Experience

This week was the last week of the Summer Movie Express or Dollar movies.  I decided to take the kids since I hadn’t taken them any other week this summer.  My reason for not taking them proved to be well founded because Kayleigh behaved just as I thought she would.  Wesley’s first movie in the theater was Rio and so I thought it only fitting to take Kayleigh to see this movie because it was Rio 2.  For the first five to ten minutes, Kayleigh was happy sitting in her own seat because she was eating fruit treats and yogurt raisins.  Then, she moved to my lap and grabbed her lovey.  She threw her lovey behind the people sitting in front of us and from then on she was ill and began to scream.  I didn’t want to bother the people trying to watch the movie, but after getting up with her and standing in the aisle with her still screaming I felt that I had no other choice.

As soon as we got her lovey back, I guess she had worn herself out from crying because she laid down on my chest and went to sleep for the remainder of the movie.  Wesley enjoyed being able to go and I can only hope that by next summer, she will be able to sit a little better through a movie so that can be an option for cheap entertainment.  Either way, this was her first movie theater experience and a memory nonetheless.  Unfortunately, Daddy missed out because he had to work—but then again he may be glad about missing this one!
