Ashley Mozingo

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley, and I am a stay at home mom to two girls, Paislee, 3 and Keely, 1. My husband is in the Coast Guard, and is currently stationed at a Coast Guard unit on Camp Lejune. We have been married for five years now and have spent two of those years in Alaska, where Paislee was born, and two in Maine, where we had Keely. We were lucky to get stationed here in 2012, and call North Carolina "home". We were both born and raised in different cities in eastern North Carolina, and we are super excited to get to spend some time here with our girls and introduce them to some of our favorite places that we had as children. Before I met my husband, I attended East Carolina University, where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications. I have a love for writing, and a huge passion for being a mom, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to write about my experiences and exciting moments of this rocky ride that we all call 'Motherhood'.

Snow Much Fun!

This past week the coast of North Carolina had an experience that they don’t get very often—a winter wonderland.  While it was a wonderful experience to share, I still can’t get over that we missed four days of school.  I am not complaining because everyone’s safety is much more important and I am thankful that we weren’t like the schools in Georgia with students stuck overnight at school!  The question is when will we have to make them up?  Hopefully, not during spring break or on a Saturday—but both of these are likely when we will!

Although we had a dusting of snow once before that Kayleigh got to taste, this was the first “true” snow that she got to walk around in.  However, she preferred to be carried or to crawl because she didn’t like that her feet were slipping around under her.

Luckily, the kids had the winter clothing—toboggans, thick coats, mittens, etc. that they needed.  I ended up using socks as mittens because I somehow misplaced mine.  What we had here was more like ice than snow.  We couldn’t make a snowman or snow cream, but it was great for sledding down the driveway.  We used beach or pool toys to slip and slide.  Kayleigh even tried it once with her Bubba.  They had a blast!

All of the cold weather kept us inside for several days.  We definitely had cabin fever.  The first chance we got, we got out of the house, even if it was only to the grocery store!
