Ashley Mozingo

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley, and I am a stay at home mom to two girls, Paislee, 3 and Keely, 1. My husband is in the Coast Guard, and is currently stationed at a Coast Guard unit on Camp Lejune. We have been married for five years now and have spent two of those years in Alaska, where Paislee was born, and two in Maine, where we had Keely. We were lucky to get stationed here in 2012, and call North Carolina "home". We were both born and raised in different cities in eastern North Carolina, and we are super excited to get to spend some time here with our girls and introduce them to some of our favorite places that we had as children. Before I met my husband, I attended East Carolina University, where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications. I have a love for writing, and a huge passion for being a mom, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to write about my experiences and exciting moments of this rocky ride that we all call 'Motherhood'.

Lejeune Bookoo!

We found a gem on Lejeune Yard Sales!!  What a great site for this area.  If you haven’t checked it out yet, you really should.  It’s like Craiglist, but just for Camp Lejuene.

We have transitioned to a big girl bed recently, so the temptation to get up and about in an attempt to escape, play with toys, or move furniture so she can fiddle with wall décor or the light switches is at an all time high.  She insists on having the door shut, and seems to stay put if an enticing crack is not left in the door.  Unfortunately, this makes checking on her quite tricky, especially when you have a light sleeper and a noisy door knob.  I know, who would have thought that a door knob could be noisy, but I swear it sounds like someone rummaging through a tool bag.  This is where the video monitor comes into play.

The problem is they cost a fortune!  The basic ones are going for close to $200 new.  Some offer multiple cameras or a feature that allows you to address your child through a speaker from the other room (which I could definitely put to good use).  So the husband hopped on and was able to find and score a basic version for $35!

It works like a charm and didn’t cost us an arm and a leg. While I can’t order her back into bed through some super cool speaker system, nor do I have multiple views of the room, it still does exactly what we need it to do.  Worth every penny!
