Ashley Mozingo

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley, and I am a stay at home mom to two girls, Paislee, 3 and Keely, 1. My husband is in the Coast Guard, and is currently stationed at a Coast Guard unit on Camp Lejune. We have been married for five years now and have spent two of those years in Alaska, where Paislee was born, and two in Maine, where we had Keely. We were lucky to get stationed here in 2012, and call North Carolina "home". We were both born and raised in different cities in eastern North Carolina, and we are super excited to get to spend some time here with our girls and introduce them to some of our favorite places that we had as children. Before I met my husband, I attended East Carolina University, where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications. I have a love for writing, and a huge passion for being a mom, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to write about my experiences and exciting moments of this rocky ride that we all call 'Motherhood'.

When This Tired Momma Wishes On A Star

I was chatting with my sister-in-law on facbook while she was away on business, alone, in a hotel room, with room service and ”Storage Wars” and I found myself feeling very jealous of her right then.  So I am hoping to someday save up enough pennies to go “go away on business” myself.  Bottom line: this momma is in need of a little break.  Nothing major, just something short and sweet.

I would need approximately a day and a half.  I would put myself up in a hotel.  A view isn’t necessary.  Don’t care where.  The kind with fluffy white down comforters and lots of pillows (a lot of basic rate hotels offer this kind of bedding now!).  No need for anything fancy.  There would need to be a YMCA or gym nearby where I could take an intense spinning class, of which I would attempt and possibly puke during, since it’s been a while.  I know that sounds nuts, but I truly love and miss spinning and would need to get a good workout in to counter the meal I would plan to consume later on.  Then I would eat a nice meal in my room while watching terrible television that drives my husband nuts, like “Tia and Tamera,” “Housewives of [insert the name of any large city here],” or “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”  After becoming completely burned out on junk TV, I would belly up to the divine dessert or maybe just a stack of Oreos.  I would then watch the very last Harry Potter movie and call it a night. Unfortunately, it came out right after I gave birth to Lily and I have yet to see it, I know, it’s a travesty.   After at least 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep in my cloud-like bed, I would wake to a large Dunkin Donut’s coffee, cream, no sugar, and then this momma can return to her little family re-energized.

And that’s it. The goal is for a restful, childless few hours, since I haven’t been without my sweet baby girl since her birth.  I think it’s about time.  Besides, its important for us moms to take time for ourselves.  So I plan to start saving today. If something even remotely similar happens, it totally counts, and you will hear all about it.

By the way, how weird is it that I would rather do all this alone.  No friends, no husband, just me.  Do you ever feel this way?
