Ashley Mozingo

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley, and I am a stay at home mom to two girls, Paislee, 3 and Keely, 1. My husband is in the Coast Guard, and is currently stationed at a Coast Guard unit on Camp Lejune. We have been married for five years now and have spent two of those years in Alaska, where Paislee was born, and two in Maine, where we had Keely. We were lucky to get stationed here in 2012, and call North Carolina "home". We were both born and raised in different cities in eastern North Carolina, and we are super excited to get to spend some time here with our girls and introduce them to some of our favorite places that we had as children. Before I met my husband, I attended East Carolina University, where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Communications. I have a love for writing, and a huge passion for being a mom, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to write about my experiences and exciting moments of this rocky ride that we all call 'Motherhood'.

Baby’s First Hair Cut

Abigail got her first hair cut this week. Unfortunately for her it was done by me and therefore it’s not perfect.

I only cut her bangs. I didn’t want to do it but they were so long that she struggled to see so it needed to be done. Unfortunately her hair has been really long in the back and short in the front since it started growing. I only added to the mullet effect by cutting her bangs. She does look cute though. It’s just sad to see her beautiful hair cut already.

I was going to take her to a salon to get it done but my husband thought that was a huge waste and when he picked up the scissors I stepped in. I thought she would put up a fight or at least not sit still but she sat perfectly still until I was done. It was awesome. She has successfully completed another milestone in her little life. Sorry that it will be remembered forever via photographs baby girl.

When I was younger my mom told me that I stole safety scissors from my crayon box, climbed under the kitchen table, and proceeded to chop my hair off. Thankfully┬áI didn’t get it any shorter than my shoulders but I can imagine the trauma my poor mother went through. Luckily, my mother was a hair stylist so hopefully she can fix Abigail’s hair if she thinks it needs it. I probably should have just let her do it in the first place, huh?

How did you feel when it was time for baby’s first hair cut?
