Cassy Fiano

Hi everyone! My name is Cassy Fiano. I was born in Jacksonville, Florida. My husband and I met when we were twelve, at a birthday party where he fell on the pool deck and broke one of his front teeth. I worked in several different fields until I got married. My husband and I knew that we wanted to have a family and that when we did, I would be a stay-at-home mommy. Last July, we found out I was pregnant, and on the day of my first doctor’s appointment, he deployed to Afghanistan. Unfortunately, during my pregnancy, I ended up with preeclampsia. Luckily, my husband returned the morning of my scheduled induction, so the day he came home from Afghanistan was the day we went to the hospital. 16 hours and a c-section later, we had our beautiful little boy, Benjamin. Being a parent has changed my life. I’ve learned to be more patient; that it’s possible to operate on two hours of sleep, and I’ve also learned that I never really knew what stress was until I experienced a baby crying inconsolably for four hours straight. I’ve learned that looking at my son sleeping in my arms can move me to tears, that I never really loved anyone the way I love my him, and that all of the hard times can be completely wiped away with one little smile. The last four months have been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to share the rest of it with you!

My Baby, The Cell Phone Programmer

Hi it's Saioa!

For being only one year old, Saioa is very talented with my cell phone. She can turn it on and off, change the ring tones or set it to vibrate. She freely uses the features that I get charged additional for, and she even will make phone calls. It’s not unusual for her to call someone and I have to explain that it was Saioa that wanted to talk to them and not me. And I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve missed a phone call or text because my phone was on some weird setting.

If you were to call my cell phone right now, instead of getting my voicemail, you’ll hear an operator say “this call cannot be completed as dialed.” I don’t know how long my voicemail has been MIA, but my husband asked me the other day, “When was the last time you got a voicemail?” I couldn’t remember! It explains why when I looked at my missed calls, people had called two, three times in a row, probably wondering why they couldn’t leave a message.

So I called Verizon and they asked if I had recently re-programed my phone. Yeah right. The only thing I can do with my phone is dial a number and text, as I am very lazy when it comes to learning new technology. Saioa, on the other hand, is the programming expert around here, but when I asked her what she did to my phone, all she said was “bub bub bub.”

Verizon gave me some troubleshooting tips but none of them worked. So I’ve yet to call them back and figure out how to get my voicemail back. In the meanwhile, Saioa’s not allowed to play with my phone anymore. She’s adjusted to the new rule well and has now shifted most of her attention to the printer. I know this because the last time I tried to print something, not only did it not print…. everything in the menu window was in Japanese. Saioa had somehow changed the language settings.

So if you get a call from “me” and no one answers or you get a strange email written in sanskrit or something…. just know it’s most likely an impostor….a darling, mischievous one!

Does your baby like to play with your cell phone? Who has he or she called on accident?
