We Made the Move!
Last month, I wrote about my fears of moving Braylin into her own bedroom (in case you missed it, click here).
Surprisingly, five nights ago, I moved her (cold turkey) into her crib in her very own room.
I’m not really sure what possessed me to try it. Ryan wasn’t here and I thought if I could get through it without him here then I could get through it anytime. As bedtime approached, I thought out how I was going to make it happen. First, I moved her bear that makes “womb” noises from her bassinet into her crib. Then, I found a CD with some mellow tunes to drown out the sounds of the road, Layla’s toenails on the wood floor, and anything else that might happen. Finally, I tested the baby monitor to make sure it worked well.
Before I knew it, bedtime had come. I rocked Braylin in her room, and then put her down in her crib. I stood there for a moment to make sure she was going to fall asleep. I may or may not have shed a few tears as she drifted off to sleep with her snuggly lamb next to her cheek.
I don’t think I slept at all that night, but she slept like a trooper. She only woke up one time and when I went in to cover her back up, she fell right back to sleep. The next night, she and I both slept the entire night.
As much as I miss her sleeping in her bassinet next to our bed, it is very nice to be able to set my alarm and not worry about waking her up when I get up in the mornings to work out. Hopefully, I won’t jinx myself by writing about this and she will continue to sleep well.

yay!! I like how you said you may or may NOT have cried a little as she was falling asleep. I’m sure I’ll come back to this post whenever I move Levi into his nursery and out of his bassonet. This Friday makes 38 weeks so any day now!!
Thank you, Jessica! It has been a week and I still get emotional when I think about it! I know you must be so excited… Not much longer at all! Best wishes for a speedy delivery!
Congratulations! That first night really is bittersweet. Even with Joshua’s move, I still got a little misty-eyed. And this is the third time I’ve done it! But once you get over the first night or two, it’s so nice having your own space back. Yay!
Brynn- You are so right! It took me a few days to get used to it, now I’m walking around my room while I brush my teeth just because I can!
