Hey there! I never really know how to introduce myself properly but here it goes. I am originally from New York but when my husband joined the Marine Corps we had to move to Jacksonville, NC. I absolutely love the south. The people are nicer, the weather is better, and it's a great place to raise a family. Which is why I'm here. My husband and I have a beautiful daughter Abigail Yvonne. He has been deployed for her first year but will be coming home shortly. It will be an interesting transition that I look forward to sharing with you! My life might not be all that interesting but being a mom sure is! Follow my blogs and see what I'm talking about.

I grew up in here in North Carolina and attended Duke for my undergraduate and UNC-Chapel Hill for my master’s degrees. I moved up north to Boston after completing school and worked there for five years as an inner-city middle and high school history teacher. While in Boston, I met my husband, Chad, who was there for school, and we were married the summer of 2004. 2007 was a big year for us – we welcomed our son, Nathan, Chad finished school, and we moved to Jacksonville for a great job opportunity for Chad. Nineteen months after Nathan was born, our daughter, Emily, joined our family. Twenty-two months later, Joshua came along. I’m now a stay-at-home mom to my little brood, having “retired” from teaching after Nathan’s arrival. When I’m not busy feeding, cleaning, dressing, and keeping up with Nathan, Emily, Joshua, and their dad, I enjoy reading, quilting, and going to the beach. I also still cheer for my beloved Blue Devils whenever the opportunity arises and thoroughly enjoyed last season’s national championship. Go Duke! Life can be a little busy around here (hello – three kids under the age of four!), but I’m looking forward to sharing life with three active little ones with you.

Maeve’s “angel kiss”.

Can you see the "angel kiss" above her right eyebrow?

Maeve was kissed by an angel at birth and still carries the kiss with her … she also was bitten by a stork.

She has a birthmark on her forehead, about an inch above her right eyebrow that is circular in shape and light pink in color called an “angel kiss”.  I asked her doctor about it and she said that it would probably be with her for the rest of her life.  Maeve also has the better-known “stork bite” on the back of her head too.  Her stork bite is larger, pink and purple blotchy pigmented skin.  They are common on babies, up to 70% of newborns have one or more, and are known to last into adulthood.

The “angel kiss” on her forehead is more intriguing to me.  Maybe because of it’s location and that it looks more like a permanent birthmark, I felt inclined to do some research.  Maeve’s doctor said that she’d just have to wear bangs because she’ll always have it, but I read something different.

It’s in the category with the “stork bites”; it becomes more noticeable when Maeve cries or there’s a change in air temperature and it’s flat on the surface of the skin.  I read that the “angel kisses”, that are usually located exactly where Maeve’s is or on the eyelids, usually go away by age two.

So, I’m confused.  Does anyone know credible information concerning birthmarks?  Maeve is healthy, happy, and growing, so there’s no cause for concern.  I would just like to know what to expect:  will this “angel kiss” fade or be a character-building feature she’ll always carry with her?

My son had a stork bite on his forehead. He is almost two and it is significantly lighter. You can only really see it if he is crying or hot. He has what we were told was an angel kiss but it is a patch of blonde hair while the rest of his is brown. We were told that would be permanent. Not sure about the mark on her forehead as it looks a lot different than the blonde hair obviously :) If it blanches and becomes darker like the stork bite, I would be inclined to think it would fade!
