Is it already time?
Maeve will be 6 months this month. I can’t believe the time is passing so quickly. As trite as it may be, it feels like I brought her home from the hospital just a few weeks ago. Now, she’s too big for 6 months-size clothes.
As she approaches the six-month mark, I am faced with a big step in her development: introducing baby cereal to her diet. When my son was this age, he was already eating cereal. Michael also could eat 24/7 as a baby and is still a big eater as he grows into a little boy.
Maeve’s a great sleeper, so I’m not inclined to give her cereal in hopes to fill her up so that she’ll sleep through the night. She already does! She will be content for a string of 5-6 hours at a time if I don’t sit down to feed her. She hardly ever tells me she’s hungry and usually when she does, it’s in conjunction with being tired. She wants just as much to be put to sleep as she does to eat. Maeve was three months old when I ran the Marine Corps Marathon. I was away from her for seven consecutive hours and she never fussed once for something to eat.
I must be in denial! It’s just gone too quickly … and she seems perfectly content with what she’s getting from me. Who needs food anyway, right?
