Winter Bliss: Our Snowy Day
Who was as excited for last week’s snowfall we received as I was? Charlie didn’t have work for two days and we thoroughly enjoyed lazy mornings that turned into playful afternoons outside in the snow. You just can’t beat that!
After Charlie made chocolate chip pancakes (his specialty), while Michael watched a Mickey Mouse Club House on TV, we ate and got dressed to go outside. Michael and Maeve looked so cute all bundled up, ready to conquer the accumulating snow. When we got outside, it felt like some sort of block party. Our neighbors on all sides were outside with their children.
Our road was covered with snow and therefore Michael was allowed on it without holding an adult’s hand. He and Charlie took off down the road, running until they reached the park. There they meandered through the trees so that Michael could see his tracks in the snow. They followed their tracks until they ended up right where they began, our front yard.
Later in the day as the snow became wet with the increase in air temperature, we made a snowman. It was perfect packing snow. Michael tried to roll the snowballs, but as they grew in size they became too heavy for even me to roll. Poor Mr. Snowman. The next morning his head has already fallen off.
We also shoveled the driveway with a friend’s snow shovel since we don’t own our own. We didn’t really need to do all that work, but there are just certain things you have to do when it snows, and shoveling the driveway is one of them.
How did you and your family enjoy the snowfall?
