Think Pink
What do a little pink tiger key chain, a pink dog collar, and 3 pink fluffy pink bunnies all have in common?
Yup, these are on Isaac’s list of things he adores, that, coincidentally, are all the color pink. Not the most manly of shades, but once I find a toddler size “real men wear pink” graphic tee, we are golden.
As I have mentioned before in past posts, whatever Isaac chooses to be, or whom he chooses to love, or anything else in his life, I will support no matter what. So all the seriousness aside, I think my sweet little son snuggling pink bunny rabbits is hilarious (:
It all started back when he first began going to daycare. Isaac was only 7 months then, and had a hard time taking a nap during the allotted time when all his friends were sleeping.
I rocked him, sang, swayed, shushed, and eventually nursed him to sleep, but it was a battle each day and my baby would only nap for 30-45 minutes and then wake up furious.
Then after a week of sleep deprivation and cranky clinginess (him) and what-am-I-doing-wrong first time mom paranoia/anxiety/frustration (me), a big bag of freshly washed stuffed animals were donated to our room, so we dumped them out among the children and watched as they all squealed and grabbed for their favorites.
Chaos ensued, but when the dust settled there was Isaac, laying there cuddling a ridiculous pink bunny with a big grin on his face.
At first I wasn’t too thrilled about the pink bunny, being a tomboy and all, but once I noticed that it settled Isaac down for nap time and got him to go to sleep so much easier, as well as longer, my respect for pink bunny grew. (Isaac is not obsessed with any of the pink bunnies like Doggy-Woof-Woof, not yet, but they are definitely in his group of furry best friends.)
After that, Isaac gravitated toward anything pink, which happens to be Marissa’s favorite color, so you can imagine what kind of temptation her room is for her little brother.
To distract him, I donated my old tiger key chain (pink) and a couple more pink bunnies, just in case one was ever to escape. Isaac readily accepted these gifts, as well as stealing one of our dog’s pink collars and a pair of old pink slippers. The boy is unstoppable! If anything pink is ever missing at our house, I know who the culprit always is, but whether I find it again is a whole different story…
What silliness has your child(ren) been up to lately? Tell us some funny stories!
