I’m “nesting” but I’m not expecting.
I feel like I’m approaching my due date all over again. In a way though, I am approaching a significant date that demands preparation.
For all you military moms and spouses, you know what I’m going through. My husband is returning in a few short weeks from a six-month-long deployment. The best part about it is that he’s coming home a month early. He hasn’t met Maeve, he left when Michael was hardly talking, and I was bigger than huge when he last saw me. So much has changed!
Now that his homecoming date is just around the corner, I’m beginning to feel frantic. Maeve is still sleeping in our room and not through the night. The crib is waiting for her to occupy it, but I’m not quite ready to part with her during the nighttime hours. It’s easier for me to simply pick her up, nurse her in my bed where I’m most comfortable, and then put her back down. It requires only three steps each way. Only sleeping through the night could beat that!
In addition to our current sleeping arrangements, the house is so disorganized … or at least I think it is. I have a million little tasks on my “to do” list that I want to complete before my husband returns. The most hilarious task is to get Charlie’s car’s oil changed, which I knew needed done since he left! In addition to the oil change, the car has had a flat tire for months now. There’s a nail in it and the air’s been slowly leaking out. Can you believe the tire isn’t completely flat yet?
I’m running out of time considering Thanksgiving is next week and I’ll be celebrating with my family in Pennsylvania.

Great news about your husband, Sarah. I know you are excited to see him and let him meet Maeve! What a wonderful Christmas present for your family!
