Isaac And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
If you have not read this kids book, I definitely recommended it for all ages; even adults will giggle and of course it has a good message at the end. The book is officially called “Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” not Isaac, but I usually can rely on my creative license…
And let me tell you, the poor kid did indeed have a “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” recently, or several days, actually.
It all started with a bite. A decent sized set of teeth marks on Isaac’s innocent baby arm. Once that happened my mother’s intuition should have known that it was downhill from there…
So, we began with a bite, and it was the first time Isaac has been bitten, so it was kind of a big deal for me, and of course a bigger deal for him. He screamed and screamed until I gave him a very unhealthy cheese puff, and then Isaac chipmunked the whole thing in his mouth and smiled.
A couple hours later he started running a fever, but since it was a low one and I knew he was teething, I wasn’t too concerned.
I was concerned, however, when Isaac began to whimper and whine and refused to let me put him down. For a boy who wants to be down playing all the time, wanting to be held for more than a minute was not the norm for my son.
I took the temperature again, and this time it 101.4, so I took him home, dosed with some ibuprofen, and put my little sickie to bed, hoping it was just teething still.
Sadly Isaac was up every hour coughing and crying despite the meds, so first thing in the morning we went to the doctor, who determined my boy had a upper respiratory infection and a double ear infection ):
So, let’s sum up this worst day ever: a bite, teething, fever, bad cold, cough, no sleep and double ear infection. One or two at a time I can handle, but all at once was quite an ordeal for both of us!
Has your child had any Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Days lately?
