Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Picky Palate

It happens every time I walk through the grocery store.  I get that itch.  I go down the baby row and I just stand there and stare at all the fun little baby food.  All the meals and snacks call my name for me to buy them and try them out.  All the jars reach out for me to take them home.  I always see all these cute moms feeding their adorable babies wearing bibs, making airplane noise and wiping their messy mouths with the spoon.  I want to be that mom!  I want to feed my baby!  Sometimes I give in and I load my cart up with a million different choices that I just KNOW Gus will HAVE to love…this time.

But alas, it never fails.  I end up with a pantry or fridge FULL of opened jars that I TRIED to feed Gus and he just wouldn’t eat them.

Hello.  My name is Jessica and I have a picky eater.

There, I said it.  It doesn’t make it any better, but at least I’m admitting to it and I’ll stop this crazy baby food buying spree that I go on once a week.

I’m just so frustrated with it though!  I want him to EAT like normal babies eat.  All he wants to do is drink a bottle.  The kid BARELY enjoys eating crackers for crying out loud.  He’ll usually take one or two bites and them crumble the rest of the cracker up and throw it.

Bananas?  No.

Carrots?  Never.

Squash?  Not in a million years.

There’s pretty much only ONE item that I can always get him to eat.  Noodles.  The kid LOVES noodles.  Noodles with butter, noodles with cheese, noodles with red sauce, he loves them all.  But what about his protein!?!?  What happens when he turns one and he’s not getting all his vitamins in his formula anymore?!  Oh help me.  I have GOT to get this figured out and FAST.

Any suggestions!?

At least you know you’re not alone, I bet millions of moms are going through the same thing. Hopefully he’ll get bored enough with formula that he’ll naturally want to try other things….hopefully!

That’s so funny Jessica, I just wrote a blog for the upcoming week that’s similar…maybe our babies are tag-teaming!

Hey sorry to ask this on your comment area, but I heard that you had trouble getting pix off your sd card and onto your computer. Was that you or a different Jessica? Ug, if you know about this, please help? I have the cutest ones for this week but the computer keeps saying my sd card is empty, which it is not!

My Paddy would not drink or eat dairy of any kind. So I continued to give him formula until he was just past 18 months. I gave him about 8-12 ounces of formula a day just to keep up his calcium and vitamins. He still doesn’t eat/drink dairy (a little cheese every once in a while and maybe frozen yogurt) but he eats enough now to make up for it. Gussy will get there! :)
