3 Year Old Shop-A-Holic
When I was a little girl I had a no sense of fashion. Now that I’m 31 years old, not much has changed. This has convinced me that there is (or isn’t) a fashion gene in all of us; a gene I obviously did not get. To this day I don’t like jewelry, accessories or too much makeup. I’m a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal and I’ve pretty much had the same hair since I was in high school… long, straight and boring. But that’s who I am and I’m fine with it.
My daughter, on the other hand, DID get the fashion gene. She loves fashion and has been drawn to it ever since she was a baby. If it’s shiny, sparkly, poofy, or lacy she most likely will want it. Lately when we go shopping, she immediately begs to go to her section as soon as possible. As soon as we get there, she makes her way in between the racks, helping herself to the outfits that she would like to try on, neatly hanging them on the bar of the stroller. Sometimes, I’ll just stand back and watch her in action, wondering, “Are we even related?”
Sometimes after I pick her up from school we’ll go out to lunch or run errands but I always ask her where she would like to go. Lately her answer has been “shopping”. Shopping? What is there for this kid to go shopping for? She wears “Dora” clothes for goodness sakes. But never the less, shopping is what she wants to do.
As I watch her mix and match ensembles it feels like I am watching her grow up right before my eyes. That is, of course, until she comes out wearing rain boots, her swimsuit cover, and all her ponytail holders around her wrists and announces she is ready for church.
Do your kids show signs of being a Shop-a-holic?
