Mamta Singh

My name is Mamta Singh, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls, 4 year old Serophina and 1 year old Saioa. They keep me on my toes and between the two of them, there is never a dull moment in our house. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have lived in amazing places such as Alaska, Hawaii and now Coastal North Carolina. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and thought we lived pretty adventurous lives until we became parents! I consider myself a foodie, always open to new and different culinary experiences. If I could live at a Starbucks, I would. I am a terrible procrastinator but deep down I’m a meticulous organizer. I enjoy my job as CEO of my household but before that I was a Corporate Educator for Blue Cross Blue Shield Hawaii. I was very fortunate to have the option of staying at home with my daughters and now receive my paycheck in the form of hugs & kisses! Some other things I love: travel, reading, live music, planning parties and spending quality time with friends and family! Like other moms, I do my best to provide a healthy, stimulating and loving environment for my kids and I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

The Lowes Are Feeling Low

Well, it’s official.  I am now a part of the deployed spouses club.  Not necessarily the type of club I’ve ever dreamed about being in, but nonetheless, still in it.  It’s only been a few days and it already feels like weeks.  I stare at my calendar flipping the pages to the return date and it just seems so FAAAAAR away. The kids seem to be doing just fine, thankfully.  I think they must be WAY stronger than I am.  The two big kids have emotional breakdowns every now and then over silly things that translate into, “I miss dad”, but other than that, they’ve been great.  Miah, my middle child, hasn’t shown any emotion whatsoever.  He completely took me by surprise because he’s my MOST emotional kid by FAR. Isaak has actually been the worst with the new changes.  Granted, he’s been without his dad for longer than a

Eye Of The Tiger

Tigers are amazing creatures.  Not only are they beautiful and endangered, they are also ruthless hunters, they love the water, and their stripes are like fingerprints, as no two patterns are the same.  Oh, and their cubs chirp like birds to call their mother, so cute! I have loved tigers for quite a while, and before Isaac came along, his nursery was the guest room/ “tiger sanctuary.”  It was full of posters, photos, toys, figurines, etc. of my favorite animal.  Ok, it may have been a tad obsessive, but it was a cool room while it lasted. Apparently Isaac is a fan of tigers as well, because when I brought out my large stuffed tiger for him to check out, he pounced on it and tried to ride it like a little jockey!  Yee-haw! Now this tiger is about 2-3 times Isaac’s size, so I’m sure you can imagine what

Biting

Children who bite others cause a great deal of concern for the parents (and have been for some of our own bloggers!). The parents of the child who has been bitten are also usually very concerned about infection. Biting is an unacceptable behavior that needs to be stopped at an early age to prevent further occurrences. Why young children bite: Although biting is fairly common in young children, it is often worrisome to adults. A family member, playmate, or classmate at daycare or preschool may be the one bitten. Biting can be painful and frightening when it occurs. It upsets other children and often angers teachers and other adults. Biting is usually caused by one of four different factors, including the following: experimental biting Experimental biting is done by infants and toddlers as they explore their world. They put everything in their mouths and sometimes bite in the process. You

ER Visit: The Solution, Part 3

Read part 2 here. After at least five minutes of continuous vomiting Nora stopped. I knew I could never push a vomiting, feverish child in a jogger for for 1 mile much less 13.5 miles. So I changed my clothes, nursed Nora and rocked her in the rocking chair. I attempted to give Nora medicine to help her fever drop and she started throwing up again. She was just vomiting uncontrollably and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I could tell she was scared by the way she cried and clung to me as she vomited. I figured it was a bug and I was just going to have to weather the vomit storm. When her fever went up to 102.8 and she started having trouble breathing I got more worried. I called the nurse advice line and gave them her symptoms. The nurse had an appointment

Temper Tantrum Worthy-Video Post

The situations that warrant Sayle’s temper tantrums and the intensity of the tantrums depend on several variables; how bad he wanted to play with whatever object was removed from his hands/grasp, how fun the activity was that he was removed from, and the extent that he disagrees with a decision made for him.  He has a tantrum if he isn’t ready to go to sleep as we start walking to his room at night.  His tantrums range from mini to full blown if I don’t let him play in the water dish (I’m sure you guys caught the small tantrum in the video).  But nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will throw him into a tantrum faster than bringing him in the house if he has been playing outside and isn’t ready to come in. Please see the enclosed video of one of Sayle’s tantrums.  This particular tantrum ranks about a 7 out of 10 on

My Daughter and her Kevin

All day long all I hear is “Mom, where’s my Dad?” and “These presents are for my Dad!”; it’s “My Dad” this and “My Dad” that.  But as soon as she hears the truck pull in to the driveway I hear her shriek “KEVIN IS HOME!”  Kevin?  Where did that come from?  When he’s not home it’s Dad, but when she is with him it’s Kevin. At first it was cute, this tiny little girl sounding so grown up, by calling her father by his name.  I suppose we thought she would grow out of it on her own.  She hasn’t.  Now I feel a little bad for him when I hear him explain to the people we meet that he is, in fact, her biological father and not her mother’s new boyfriend.  Or when they’re playing and she calls him Kevin and he tells her in that informative, yet
